Supposedly, Boston is actually sitting their stars today. Must feel nice to be able to do it.

So it doesn't really matter and I'd actually go further and say no Markakis today too. They've been absent anyway.

I'm actually fine with this. Duda had been hot before his acquisition and Freddie needs a day off. Markakis better be next.

It felt really good in the 90's when we did this. It was called the Bobby Cox Sunday Special

The best team in mlb thinks they help. The Red Sox have played 140 games, and JD Martinez leads them with 132 games played. Markakis and FF have played every game for the braves.

This is my take. No reason to have two guys playing every game. They should have had 5 to 6 games off already. I sometimes hope we fail down the stretch just to insure twitner is fired. But I can’t pull against my team so just have to hold hope that AA makes the right call and finds him a position next to Bobby far enough away to do no more damage.

Man, I hated the Bobby Sunday Special. We had usually already won the series, and he would rest everybody. In hindsight, of course, it obviously worked. We usually had the division on ice by now, and the guys had tons of days off...

I didn't feel this way. I thought it was giving up because instead of resting 1 or 2 guys , it seemed like he gave everyone an off day at once.

I can understand a lot of folks' disagreements with Snitker, but you gotta admit what he has done with this team- a full year ahead of schedule has been pretty incredible. Sure, he makes a lot of decisions with the BP that fans may not understand, but most times those same fans don't have a clue as to what is going on any particular day (so and so could be sore, so and so could have a stomal issue, etc)....He is in possible striking distance of the best record in the NL with a lineup with serious holes in it.

Keep piling on Freddie why don't you

I kid. I kid... seriously though, FF needs to snap of it or this thing could go bad quick

Yeah, I'm fine with sitting him today but the slump has to end. For us to stay atop the division and/or clinch a playoff berth, Freddie has to get at least semi-hot. Honestly, he and Acuna mashing is enough to keep us afloat, but Freddie is the key.

That's funny- but no question there. We need Freddie back to form. At least we have Duda to drill some homers while he rests....

I'm not sure that all of Freddie's problems are fatigue problems, though days off can help with that mental fatigue for sure. Mechanics-wise, Freeman is struggling because he's having sequence issues in terms of his rotation. Upper body is too quick, making him appear to lunge and lose power. He's jumping at pitches and pushing his hands, which slows the bat down and makes you try to over compensate in other areas. Really affects barrel path as well. All hitters work to maintain good sequence where their lower half is on time and their hands can just be reactionary. It's easy to get out of whack and even when you know the issue, takes time get back in sequence to where you 'see ball, hit ball'.

It seems like we won a lot more of those games than we should have. And obviously it worked out as far as keeping guys rested and winning a **** ton of games.
