What age is a hitter's prime?

I think historically it's the age 27 season. Or at least that's been the working theory. Which makes sense. That's a time frame you would think hitters have been in the league long enough to really understand it at the big league level with still the physical tools to do something with it.

Depends on what you mean, but Enscheff notes the other day that exit velocity tends to decline pretty much continuously for players throughout their career, from the moment they hit the bigs (though most precipitously around age-33).

A walk that could have easily been a K, a broken bat bloop that Markakis makes a rare error on, and all of a sudden two runs are on the board. This always happens against these guys.

The good thing is the Braves kill left handers, all shouldn't be lost, but if it ends up being that way, EYBS is alive and well.

McCarthy's mess was started by a walk that looked like strike three, cheap hits and an error. He could've easily gave up nothing without those bad breaks. Though those last two hits were legit mistakes.
