FF is at 3.2 fWAR. Adding Machado is the equivalent of adding an FF to their team. We don't want this

Except if they play Machado at SS, he isn't worth close to what Freddie is worth. He's been worse defensively at SS than Kemp ever was at LF for us. That's incredibly sad.

Kemp was at -14.1 def value (fangraphs) in 115 games for us ~ -0.13 per game.

Machado at SS this year is at -3.9 in 86 games ~ -0.05 per game.

FF is at -3.4 in 87 games ~ -.04 per game.
 
The Phils are 18-7 in one run games this year according to Baseball Reference. That's the best in baseball. We're 13-7 and sit at 6th.

Baseball Reference also has the Phils at +3 in "Luck" and us at -2. Not sure what that means but it seems significant.

The Phillies have been extremely lucky and will likely need to make additions just to keep it up.

According to these articles, he's not only been the 2nd worst defensive player in baseball this year, he's well on his way to one of the worst defensive seasons on record.

I do buy that regression is ticketed for them, I just don't buy that it's going to happen anytime soon given that they have a weak schedule for now. It's going to get tougher for them eventually, but it should be noted, that they have one of the easier schedules for the rest of this season so while regression is ticketed for them, it's not going to be what some of us are thinking. They're here to stay, unfortunately.

They do play the Dodgers and Red Sox later this month, but until then, with the way it's going, their schedule is so cake that I wouldn't be surprised if they're going 8-4 at the worst for 12 games until then.

Bottom line is, the Braves do have a lighter stretch coming after July, and it's a must take advantage when it comes. June was a light stretch and it honestly was blown. If August gets blown...that's trouble.

So I would withdraw that request if I were you. He is the one that most posters complain about and there is no one second within a parsec of him.

Not saying ban anyone. A better job of cleaning up distasteful and inflamatory posts is more what a I'm getting at. I know gamethreads are emotional, but come on. Especially when it's multiple posts spewing the same trash.

Just reduces the quality of the board, imo. I don't feel like my membership fees are being optimized to their full potential.
