GDT Thurs, 7/5 vs Brewers

There's a scene in David Simon's Treme where one of the main characters, a working musician, realizes after tying himself in knots trying to elevate his craft, that's he's ok being the 6th or 7th best trombone player in New Orleans. That's where I am with Dansby. I don't think he sucks, in absolute terms, I just think he's mediocre and, given the early Alan Trammell/Barry Larkin dreaming, that's a bit of a tough pill to swallow. He tops out at the bottom of the best third of MLB SS. He bottoms out at the bottom of the middle third. After nearly 1000 MLB PAs, that just kinda seems like who he is. High floor, low ceiling.

This road trip is taking a turn for the worse after a great start. I'm not panicking just yet, but I'm really a little worried some now. Nats had their big moment tonight kind of like the huge come back vs the braves a couple years ago. Nats and Phillies will more than willing to add pieces we really can't unless we cash in big future assets.

Since I'm quoted in this post... I assume you take Dansby's career 77 wRC+ as proof that I'm wrong?

Swanson good with glove but he can’t hit. Period. Over 1000 PAs now and it clearly shows sub par. Showing zero signs of progress as well.
