GDT: Tigers @ Braves 4/29 : Ritchie Rich Time

I think added lango is fair...but I also think Olson starts to separate the nest few years to help balance..

I will say I didnt see lango developing into this hitting beast

That was the whole thing

Getting prime Olson, vs less than prime FF
Freeman is still an elite 1b though, even if the production has fallen off.

We'd still be better off with Freeman and the package of prospects we traded away, which could have been used to get a TOR starter like Pablo Lopez or Dylan Cease.

Here's their ops and wrc+ for the sample chip used...

FF: .893 ops, 144 wrc+
Olson: .906 ops, 141 wrc+

They're both terrific defensively, and they've been equal offensively. fWAR paints a better picture showing them basically even
Absolutely wrong.

Olson is a vastly better defender than Freddie at this point. Since 2023, Freddie is -12 DRS and Olson is +42. For their careers, Olson is +92 and Freddie is -3. Olson is probably the greatest defensive first baseman of the modern (DRS started in the 2000s) era.

As time marches on these types of scenarios become less relevant. Would it have made the team better the past few years? Possibily. 2026 onward? Hard to say. We could have sent Shea + others for Cease at some point. But Cease wouldn't be on the team right now.

I really struggle to assume that someone who breaks out 3-4 years after we traded them would have broken out with us and been the same player if they stayed. Langeliers is pretty dang good now, but he has been developed by the A’s for five years. It seems wrong to assume that has no bearing on the player he became.
