GDTl Braves @ Sillies: Middle of the Week Sunday Lineup

Trade deadline needs…

A LF bat
Another bullpen arm
Another starter

Little to no equity to obtain this…I can’t wait to see AA work this one

I am not mad about losing today. Just hate that we are still hoping Cano and Ford can give us anything. We have to ride our starters out and hope for the best until, hopefully, AA can bring in some more talent. Duvall and Ozzie injuries are really hurting. But I am not sure why Acuna was out with day off tomorrow, unless something was sore.

You missed 4 ground balls today, huh?

Radio said snit gave him a day off to rest and bc he's struggling

I think we really need to acquire another starter. I don’t think you can rely on Morton as a middle of the rotation starter anymore, especially when Snit still thinks he’s 70+ pitch pitcher. Morton is a 4 or 5 at this point. Anderson is basically a five. We need another 3, especially since we should be limiting Strider’s innings.

Agreed. Castillo or Montas would set us up nicely. Oakland would love a guy like Anderson having 4 years of control left. Montas is controllable next year too. I wonder if they’d be interested in a swap? We’ll have to get creative with a weak farm system.

I could understand giving Cano a shot to see if he had anything left. He didn’t, it’s obvious… he needs to be gone. I’ve never understood the Mike Ford thing. It’s a joke he’s on the reigning WS champ’s roster. I don’t want to see him again but I won’t hold my breath

Agree… We need another (effective) starter really bad with Morton unpredictable, Ian being terrible, and possible Strider limits.

No matter what duhduh says

Scenarios revolving around trading 4 years of Anderson for 1-2 years of another SP are interesting, but I doubt AA would sell low on someone who until recently appeared to be a solid long term rotation piece.

I agree with this - seeing Kyle Wright finally emerge is enough to give great pause. Anderson has certainly flashed brilliance- it would suck to see him turn into another Wainwright…..

Good thing I’ve been at work today

quick recap

Twit put out a sunday lineup with a day off tomorrow.. but oh well
PawPaw announced he wants to trade Acuna and is now in timeout with Horsehide
Mfree isn't going near Cy's mom, going against our member's agreement we all signed
We have two shells pitching in the pen
Oh and the Braves suck again.

I love looking at records and breaking them down to see if there is anything to them. Sometimes it is simply coincidence, like the Braves' 13-18 record in last games of a series, including losing 8 of the last 9.

But here's a related record that might have some merit - The Braves record in day games is 15-19. Day games happen most often on last games of series - Sundays and getaway days.

I looked at the stats, and while the pitching in day games is nearly identical to night games, the hitting is noticeably worse - .779 OPS in night games vs. .705 OPS in day games. Is there something to that? Is it the time of day (like, the hitters have more trouble getting ready for an early game), or is it the daylight itself causing issues?

Interestingly, the OPS splits are almost exactly the same as last year's day and night splits - very nearly to the third digit. And yet that team managed a 24-20 record in day games in 2021 despite the pitching being noticeably worse as well. The difference in run differentials - -3 so far this year (after today's game) vs. -22 last year - leads me to believe this is nothing but SSS variance, but the trend is there - the Braves are worse in day games, for whatever reason.
