Georgia Senate Runoff

It's amazing how close the races are, even after all the shenanigans and lies by the GOP. After the disgraceful pandemic response with family members dying left and right. People are just dug in and their minds can't be changed.
 
Just sampling some counties for compairsons with the November election.


Dade County has 99% reporting. Perdue won it by 4,600 votes. Winning in the runoff by just under 4100 votes.

Walker County has 95% reporting. Perdue won it by over 17,000 votes and in the runoff by 14,500

Catoosa County has 98% reporting. Perdue won it by 16,00 votes and in the runoff so far by just under 16,000. Probably gets to 16k with the last %

Fannin County has 99% reporting. Perdue won it by 9,500 votes and in the runoff by 8,600.
 
Perdue up 15K votes over Loeffler

NBC (newborn calf, the nickname her teammates on her girls' HS basketball team gave her) was a pretty awful candidate.

Georgia has a lot of slightly conservative leaning moderates. These are affluent, educated people who want stability. Trump's antics have totally alienated these people.

On paper these should be easy wins for the Republicans. Because of Trump, they probably lose both.

You discount the possibility that LOTS of people fundamentally disagree with democrat policies.

If the Democrats fielded strong moderate candidates, they win easily. As is you have Warnock who is dealing with domestic abuse allegations and Ossoff who has never really done any work a day in his life. Very weak candidates to appeal to rural and suburban voters.

The only reason Warnock and Ossoff can win is Trump's ridiculous behavior.

So who is hypothetically a strong Democratic candidate in Georgia?

I saw an article that referred to Ossoff as "Ossoff, a documentary film creator" and I almost choked.

The fact that porn author Abrams, a domestic abuser, Jeremiah Wright clone Warnock, and trust fund baby, China funded Ossoff are winning in GA shows just how complacent the Georgia GOP has become, regardless of Trump. Trump should have been able to field dress a puppy on the Capitol steps and Republicans still win these elections.

Hard to say at this point. Moderate democrats have been chased from the party or else marginalized in recent years. There hasn't been any attempt to elevate a moderate to the main stage.

That being said, you could probably find a moderate democrat business leader or else an old school rural democrat who would have widespread appeal if given sufficient support by the party.

However, moderates don't have a prayer of getting their party's support right now. That goes both ways.

Biden is as moderate of politician as you will ever find but the radical right is still losing their mind that he is a full blown communist.
 
Looks like CNN is rounding up to 51% for the REP and rounding down for the Dem. With the numbers this close, they should be using tenths, at least.

They'd probably bring people to the polls who are staying home right now. Lots of people have no candidate they feel they can trust right now.

See that's a reasonable take if you only listen to what he says. His policies and the party platform say otherwise. You think that if Chuck and Nancy send him some crazy progressive bills that he'll veto them? He will not. He's another tool in Nancy's hand, he'll do what she wants when it matters, just like every other Washington Dem.
