Georgia Senate Runoff

As much joy as it would bring me to laugh in the face of Sturg and thethe after they ridiculed the polls and the media for predicting a blue wave, I really don't want to see either party in complete charge of the government. So I'm rooting for Perdue to pull out the win here.

how is absolute gridlock good for anybody?
republicans deserve to lose it all after putting forth zero ideas besides allegiance to trump.

I prefer gridlock to complete control. Ideally. I prefer a 3 party system, but the powers that be refuse to let that happen.

Deserve has nothing to do with it. I'm still a conservative by nature, even if this era of MAGA Republicans are garbage people.

“Loeffler was a near-billionaire cosplaying as a hillbilly,

and it felt insultingly uncomfortable to everyone watching.”

But the baseball cap! So folksy!

She did her best Kamala impression.

Unfortunately for her she didn't have an old white man's coat tails to ride to victory

It was not a blue wave. Even with the advantage of all you can eat ballot harvesting the Dems lost significant ground in the House. Even with idiots like Lin Wood urging Republicans not to vote and the unlimited ballot harvesting, Dems will barely pull one of these Senate seats out in a runoff election.

Three big results from this election

1) Dems will overstep. We'll see if Manchin and Tester allow them to go far enough to lock Republicans out in the future and <gasp> undermine democracy. I doubt it. They know they would be expendable at that point.

2) Mail in voting is about to be the new gerrymandering. I'm glad to have 5 constitutionalist justices on the Supreme Court now for that battle, thanks to Herr Trump.

3) The part of the population with the most guns no longer believes they can find redress in the voting booth. National Dems would be wise to handle them with care.

Divided government is almost always best. I was fine with Trump losing as long as Rs kept the senate. In fact, I preferred that over Trump winning but Rs losing both houses (Trump never vetoes anything). Now there is more risk for the crazy to happen.

Oh well... accelerate the collapse

but this is slim control and there are very moderate dems in the senate. it's not like they'll be able to do whatever they want.

it's amazing how getting as many people out to vote is seen as bad by republicans, the apparent lovers of democracy.

Unfortunately the war machine is about to ramp up regardless who won these races. They are two of the same coin.

There will be a lot more apeasing China with a full dem control. Thats too bad.

At least we now have a relentless media who will hold Biden and congress feet to the fire

Hahahahahahaha sorry couldn't post that last part with a straight face

6 months ago, GA wasn't even considered a realistic possibility of flipping both Senate seats, much less both seats and the Presidency.

I mean they Dems pulled the Senate it appears and the Presidency this election. I don't see how it can be looked at as anything but an overwhelming success for the Dems.

And the R's would maintain slim control in the Senate if Perdue won. I prefer checks and balances to complete control.

The run off puts a damper on it. But the expectations and polling were calling for massacres in the house and a much larger senate lead. Its why we got lectured daily about 1932 beatdowns.

That didn't happen and frankly sets up nicely for a huge shift in 2022. Bidens tiny power window is gonna be very short

(Note, it possible Trump decides to keep sabatoging future races)

looking at the trends it was going to go blue or at least become competitive eventually...but very poorly chosen one accelerated things by a cycle or two...texas is next

otoh wisconsin and pennsylvania are going the other way

the tectonic plates of american politics are nothing if not interesting

I want a lot less idiots voting on both sides

you favor poll testing ?
really

How's about we invest in education? So 30 year old's know things like the procedures for when the Senate is tied,
or how and why there are multiple bills attached to other bills. You know, how the system works.
Or even better they understand history so the next time a wanna- be
despot runs for POTUS they recognize him then dont buckle and bow for $4000
