I had no idea if it was correct or not... apparently it isn't, but I don't think they juiced it for Newcomb and then progressively juiced it even more as the game went on. I think Newcomb maintained velocity

Regardless of the velocity, I thought he located it well and 95 from the left side is plus any way you slice it.
As others have mentioned, he needs a third pitch that mixes well with his fastball. There were a few too many at bats where hitters were able to foul off his fastball to work walks where he could have struck the hitter out.

I missed that comment.. but that makes the absolute most sense.. I never thought that Newk was hitting 101.. but I didn't think they were switching guns.. I didn't think about them having a LH and RH gun which makes sense to do..

Yep, whether he becomes a TOR that can go 7-8 innings regularly or a mid rotation guy that goes 6 innings will likely come down to him developing that third pitch. Hopefully he can work effectively on it this offseason.

I have watched Newk about 7 times in the minors and they don't do guns that often, but I have never seen him hit 100.. never. That said, I knew the Braves weren't purposefully juicing Newks FB. I am just an idiot that I didn't think about different guns for Righties and Lefties. I knew he was going to pitch well today after his first inning. He can be so damn good if he gets that third pitch... really pumped about his start thus far this year.

Thanks. I actually got a much better hotel when I got here. Hotels.com screwed me. I got here and the one I booked had no record. After freaking out pretty bad, hotels.com gave me a very nice coupon, which I used on a much nicer, closer hotel

It took a small shred of common sense to realize Newk wasn't throwing 101, and the gun pointed at him was hot by 4-5 mph.
