get fish 6/16

It doesn't matter if our offense is decent when he's in and maybe a league worst when he's out...he's HORRIBLE!! Just look at his Dwar. You guys suck.

I missed the game bc I was out

I don't understand the gun fighting.

Sounds like Newcombe walked some guys but it wasn't bc he was throwing non competitive pitches. Marlins have some hitters. I'm encouraged by 6 innings of 3 runs vs fish.

The offense is not good. Not sure why that would surprise anyone. Looking at that lineup all I really care about is health Newcombe and Swanson. Swanson still not good.

It doesn't matter. The offense was just bad last night. I think it is 110% clear at this point, you can't lose protection like KEMvP and expect to score. He is that important to this offense.

I just looked at his PAR (protection above replacement). Highest in the league. Sitting at 37 right now. You just can't lose that on a nightly basis.

Yeah but the Marlins score 4.72 runs per game and they only scored 3 last night. So the defensive improvement from Kemp to Santana is 1.72 runs per game. That's huge.

They scored 5 so obviously we missed Kemp's defense.

Everyone keeps having these fights. I'd love to see the video of bad kemp plays and Santana making those plays. When we watch games where the ball goes into lf 5 or less times this just doesn't jive

I wasn't being serious there but it's not hard to understand. A small amount of plays makes all the difference both offensively and defensively.

Newk's velo chart for his last start. Slightly higher average velo, slightly lower max velo. Looks like a ~93 MPH heater.

For comparison, here's Folty closer to 95 MPH:

Looks like Newk's stuff was a little overstated, and Folty is still the best "stuff" guy the Braves have. He only threw the change once last game, and it is important that he develops that pitch to help him against RHed hitters.

I'm certainly not a scout and don't claim to be, but give me Newcomb's 93 with his curve from the left side over folty's 95 from the right

MiLB stats...

Folty = 646.1 ip 566 k .252 avg against

Newcomb = 348.1 ip 412 k .215 avg against

I don't think it's even a question who has better stuff

Imo he needs the change

Maybe he can make the slider and change more like two separate pitches

That's what I was gonna say. Newcomb's curveball is much better than Folty's breaking pitches, and Folty's fastball seems like slightly better.

But I'm not a scout either.

Yes. But I don't recall a bunch of kemp disasters.

Disasters? Kemp has very very limited range out there. He hasn't caught a ball all year that's above 50% on the difficulty scale. And less than half of the balls caught 50-90% of the time. Those plays do lead to runs.
