Global Events & Politics Überthread

Lots of quiet in regards to the most important aspect of Obama second term. What a disaster. People running from the nuclear deal right now. Hussein just propped up terrorism around the world.

Just need members of the military to defect and this revolution will succeed.

Or, we could not try to graft our political worldview onto the desires of Iranian protestors.

I'm saddened that this is your first comment on what could go down as one of the most important events in the last 100 years in the name of world peace.

The people revolting is clear. They are sick of Islamic rule. The removal of the hijab for many women is a direct action to support that. Its a shame that you or anyone could not see this. White/Liberal/Americans defend Islam more than the Iranians.

Women who are oppressed by this barbaric culture are yearning to be free.

Can only imagine what the Iranian people think of the nuclear gift (deal) the Obama administration made with Iran's corrupt leaders. A world embarrassment.

Huh. Well, I tried.

What a drastic change of events a free Iran would mean to the world. Talk about a massive step towards peace on the middle east. I hope both the US and Israel are providing as much aid as lossible but ultimately this needs to be an organic uprising. We just have to make sure the Iranian people know that slaughter will not be tolerated from the government.

thethe, I'm going to wager that you don't know much about Iran. That's not a shot at you--I don't know much either. But I do know that it's probably a fool's errand for either of us to think we know exactly what's going on there, and why...particularly if we're only viewing it through a American lens, and a disingenuously partisan one, at that.

PS, the clip above is not from Iran. Which tends to support my case, I think.

Just know what I've read. I would never claim to be an expert on Iran but I know human nature and people yearn to be free and that's what we are seeing.

Where is the picture from?

Got duped by twitter on that photo. Doesn't change a thing. The people's sentiment is clear.

Crazy what's happening. Will be interesting to find out how this really started. Way too organized to be random.

More and more good news with the police/military force defections. Everyone pray for the Iranian people to remain strong.
