This statement reflects the thinking of many people. I think it is mistaken thinking because it makes Hamas safe from molestation as long as they hide among civilians. The rules of war are there to reduce harm to civilians. But there has to be a recognition that the elimination of harm to civilians is impossible. And that making elimination (not reduction) of harm to civilians the one and only criterion for judging the IDF's actions plays into the hands of terrorists in this situation. Israel is not retaliating against the people of Gaza. It is providing them a chance to move south before escalating military action against Hamas.

I must say that it greatly surprises me that the tyrants in power in New Zealand would consent to peacefully handing over power to people on the other side. I would sentence them to Remedial Tyranny 101. At a minimum they should demand a full-cavity audit before handing over power.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand (AP) — Conservative former businessman Christopher Luxon will be New Zealand’s next prime minister after winning a decisive election victory Saturday.

People voted for change after six years of a liberal government led for most of that time by Jacinda Ardern.

The exact makeup of Luxon’s government is still to be determined as ballots continued to be counted.

Outgoing Prime Minister Chris Hipkins, who spent just nine months in the top job after taking over from Ardern in January, told supporters late Saturday he had called Luxon to concede.

Ardern unexpectedly stepped down as prime minister in January, saying she no longer had “enough in the tank” to do the job justice. She won the last election in a landslide, but her popularity waned as people got tired of COVID-19 restrictions and inflation threatened the economy.

With most of the vote counted, Luxon’s National Party had about 40% of the vote. Under New Zealand’s proportional voting system, Luxon, 53, is expected to form an alliance with the libertarian ACT Party.

Ardern and the liberals had won the last election in a landslide, but her popularity had taken a hit after longstanding COVID-19 restrictions and an historically high inflation rate affected voter perceptions.

Hipkins, her 45-year-old replacement, had previously served as education minister and led the response to the coronavirus pandemic.

In Saturday’s election, the Labour Party led by Hipkins won only a little over 25 percent of the vote, which was about half the votes it received in the last election under Ardern.

Ya love to see it

It astonishes me that even at this late date that the actions taken by New Zealand and Australia and other to save lives are views among folk libertarians as some form of tyranny. Voters of course may decide that they didn't like those policies and vote the bums out. That is their prerogative.

People rejecting them because they were tyrants.

The concept of a threshold exceeded resulting in massive amount of increased crime and antisemitism can be found all over Europe.

I’m shocked that the BL has been quiet on all these videos across the world but one “super real” video of white guys marching with tiki torches occupied his interest for years.

Heads need to roll in Israel if it’s found this could have either been prevented or mitigated.

It was way too easy and someone or some people need to be held accountable for such an egregious security failure.

No. They're only outcomes of where they are at.

No - because we are seeing the same things all across Europe and now some in South America. It’s where the US would be if not for the stolen elections the last couple of years. Let’s we what Nov 24 yields.

Nobody should accept this type of incompetence but as usual the people with hurt feelings don't like the messenger. Israeli people agreed.

With 90% of the vote counted, it's clear the democratic opposition

in Poland just defeated the national-conservative autocratic ruling party.

I know that there are a lot of terrible things happening

right now, but this, finally, is actual good news:

turnout was yuge...especially among young voters
