They are not strong compared to the American and Israeli militaries. But they are strong enough to inflict a lot of harm on their civilian population.

Air campaign with missiles landing on the regime can get you most of the way there, or air campaign to open alleys for SOF raids like Maduro experienced. But it’s hard to control who grabs power afterwards if that happens.

In no small part, the very Iranians the pro-war folks are claiming to be fighting for through one side of their mouth while cheering on their “necessary sacrifice” in pursuit of a weakened China from the other.

I don’t really give a damn. There’s no doubt that the current regime is bad and there’s no reason for me to dispute the potential positives for the Iranian people as a whole. But innocent people are going to die in the process and segments of the right are already jerking off Trump for his big brain move to deprive China of oil. It makes it very hard to take those same people seriously when they pretend to claim that they’re the ones with the interest of the Iranian people at the top of their mind. If there is a civil war, I hope they keep up that same energy when it’s time for refugees to get out of a war zone.
