Global Events & Politics Überthread

Well that's not really true. The idea is that action has a reaction. Sometimes they're predictable, sometimes they're not. You're basically washing your hands of your ideologue by going "Look at what Bush and Obama did" which is just stupidity.

No - I am supporting a position that eliminates future bad decisions. This powerplay was always going to happen whenever the US left the region.

Do you support staying in perpetuity?

To be fair to James' his struggles hes enduring are much worse than the people who are being killed or jailed for wanting freedom.

I do look forward to his thoughts on the next Trump controversy though!

While I ultimately agree, I can also sympathize with him having landed in Barcelona on Monday, hours after the Supreme Court sentenced Catalan separatist leaders to prison, lol.

Yiu guys conveniently step over the fact that social justice warriors are inly warriors when its convenient.

Yeah it's pretty obvious Lebron doesn't want to hurt his billion dollar business relationship with China. Got to make sure Space Jam does well over there.

observation 1: it would not be difficult to destroy Turkey's economy considering they already have a problem with too much debt denominated in foreign currencies

observation 2: destroying Turkey's economy would not be a good idea considering the exposure of major European banks to Turkish delight err debt...there is some leverage to be potentially exploited from Turkey's financial vulnerability but it would require careful calibration... how to hurt Erdogan without causing a banking crisis...good luck to chosen one on this mission...may his assets in Turkey be safe and profitable

The question is that if there is ongoing skirmishes between Turkey/Syria/Iran what does the UN do?

From "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" to "I dont think every issue is everyone's problem"

Huge L for LeBron and the NBA on this. It was a no-win situation from the start asking an NBA American player about geopolitics but L surely has dug that hole even deeper.

The country might realize the China is the real global enemy if not for one side of the aisle propping up a fake one.

It's in the interests of both China and Russia to see the US and UK/Europe divided and fighting.

They couldn't have helped facilitate a better President to help them achieve that.

Russia is a blip compared to the US & China. They are close to irrelevant.

Europe agrees with China's governmental style, sans the genocide (I think). They have helped prop up China as much as the US in the past. Until they realize the error of those ways then they aren't allies.

I just miss the days when the right wing told us North Korea and Iran were our biggest threats. And Islamic extremism. Oh how the tides have shifted.

Islamic Extremism is right there after China.

I also remember the days of mocking Russia. That wasn't too long ago until you needed a scapegoat for losing in 2016.

chosen one to Erdogan: Don't be a tough guy.

I wonder how hard Erdogan laughed when he read that letter last week.

War machine is working real hard to convince the American people to keep as much investment as possible in the middle east.
