Global Events & Politics Überthread

We have been hearing that Trump was going to lose the US our European allies since he was elected (Paris Accord ) and it hasn't happened.

So this is the time its going to stick? ok

There is literally no Trump rose you are willing to smell.

I have, and have regularly expressed, quite an open mind about DPRK negotiations, although I admit I give Trump less credit than you do. But I'm certainly not taking a reflexive position against engagement just because Trump is doing it. I support it and hope for success.

Briefly? It puts Rouhani in a tough position politically, demonstrates resolve to end Syrian conflict, acts as another strong signal to our allies in the Middle East.

But Bob Corker supported staying in.

So.... yeah.

I'm sorry, but that's a funny.

That's arguably reason enough for it being a ****ty idea.

There's no point in arguing with thethe on Iran when he's posting fake photo tweets about Kerry's Daughter's Husband's Best Man.

I'm just not sure why anyone would take the position that we should trust Iran is being faithful to a deal like this. Why would we allow a regime like this to develop any kind of heavy weapons? Until the leadership changes we should take the absolutely hardest line against them. If the US does this European allies will follow.

Chuck Schumer and Jon Tester and Chris Coons and Robert Menendez and Dick Durbin and Joe Manchin all expressed concerns about the original Iran deal.

Since we're treating congressmen as a somehow useful gauge of merit.

Like, what signals do we need besides $3B in arms sales, co-signing the Yemeni catastrophe, co-signing the Qatari ****ery, and giving Bibi a handy every time he wants one?

Apparently you are comfortable with them funding terrorist groups that kill American soldiers and outwardly call for the destruction of Israel. Telling that you can gloss over that without an issue. Speaks to what you truly believe. It makes no sense to me how anybody can support anything that helps Irans leadership.

Yeah, and pretty much everyone who expressed trepidation about at the time recognizes half a loaf being better than none and opposes leaving it.

But, sure, let's trust the Bolton crew. They've never steered us wrong.

Ron Howard voice: "They didn't."

UDALL: Do you have any evidence to dispute the IAEA assessment
Iran is in full compliance with the JCPOA?

POMPEO: Senator, with the information that I've been provided..I've seen no evidence that they're not in compliance today.

The really odd thing is that you seem to think that exiting the deal makes this less likely.

As if that is the only reason why we should pull out of the deal.
