Global Events & Politics Überthread

And out of the blue process crimes are a big deal. You cant be serious. I would be surprised if anyone here doesnt think he should go to prison. That last part is awfully authoritarian of you.

It looks like the western liberalism is now being attacked from the left.

Over the past couple of weeks, well–meaning people have poured almost a million pounds into the coffers of Black Lives Matter UK in the belief that they are helping a movement that will help black people. In fact they have funded a deeply radical movement. On its own fundraising page, BLM UK describes its aims as: ‘to dismantle imperialism, capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and the state structures.’ So as well as dismantling a nonexistent menace (‘imperialism’) it intends to bring down the economy and completely alter relations between the sexes (negatively characterised as ‘patriarchy’). This is not liberalism, but far-left radicalism of a kind that has become very familiar of late.

Who could have guessed this would happen. Democrats playcated to the radicals to rule up support against trump and now they are uncontrollable.

Hard left has always been out there. This agenda you quote (‘to dismantle imperialism, capitalism, white supremacy, patriarchy and the state structures.’) is a pretty shopworn one. Been around for literally a hundred years if not longer.

Have you seen peaky blinders?

If not check it out on Netflix.

1871 is the big year for the communards...this is a movement that peaked in 1871...but hope springs eternal

Not sure how this is legal but Trump signed an executive order to seize the property of anyone involved with the ICC and to bar them and their immediate family from entering the US. Now I am sure they can bar entry but how can they just seize an international persons **** without a crime?

Not really sure that's a standard an international businessman should take. Notably one that has trouble following the law.

Twenty Indian soldiers were killed in clashes with Chinese troops high in the Himalayas, the Indian army said Tuesday, marking the most serious conflict between the two nuclear-armed neighbors in decades.

The deaths occurred in the mountainous region of Ladakh, where India and China share a disputed — but largely peaceful — border. No Indian soldiers have been killed in clashes on the frontier between the two countries since 1975, experts say, and no casualties of this magnitude have occurred since 1967.

Col. Zhang Shuli, a spokesman for the Chinese military, said there had been a “fierce physical conflict, causing casualties.” He accused India of crossing the unofficial border between the two countries — known as the “Line of Actual Control” — to “launch a provocative attack.” India blamed the conflict on China’s attempt to “change the status quo” in the area.
