Chinese-language anti-communist media and Twitter are abuzz this week with rumors that a vice minister of State Security, Dong Jingwei defected in mid-February, flying from Hong Kong to the United States with his daughter, Dong Yang.

Dong Jingwei supposedly gave the U.S. information about the Wuhan Institute of Virology that changed the stance of the Biden administration concerning the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dong is, or was, a longtime official in China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS), also known as the Guoanbu. His publicly available background indicates that he was responsible for the Ministry’s counterintelligence efforts in China, i.e., spy-catching, since being promoted to vice minister in April 2018. If the stories are true, Dong would be the highest-level defector in the history of the People’s Republic of China.

Dong’s defection was raised by Chinese officials last March at the Sino-American summit in Alaska, according to Dr. Han Lianchao, a former Chinese foreign ministry official before defecting after the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre. In a Wednesday tweet, Han, citing an unnamed source, alleged that China’s foreign minister Wang Yi and Communist Party foreign affairs boss Yang Jiechi demanded that the Americans return Dong, and U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken refused.
...
Without naming Dong, the pro-Trump web site Red State reported June 4 on a high-level defection from China, saying the Defense Intelligence Agency had received information from him that Beijing is covering up biological warfare research at the Wuhan lab, and advanced its story to question the integrity of Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

“Sources say the level of confidence in the defector’s information is what has led to a sudden crisis of confidence in Dr. Anthony Fauci, adding that U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) personnel detailed to DIA have corroborated very technical details of information provided by the defector,” it said.

What are the thoughts on this supposed defector from the ccp?

Supposedly he’s got massive amounts of intel (terabyte) on currently compromised intelligence officials and politicians. Rumors are he went to DIA because the ccp has too many informants within the FBI/CIA.

Ccp disinformation?

I doubt we'll ever know how much of an impact he has, but high level members of the CCP coming over can only be a good thing. The benefit of voluntary cooperation from the head of their counter intelligence operations is beyond measurable value. Along with being able to name names is his information on their technological capabilities and processes.

Tomorrow the CCP celebrates its 100th anniversary. Just wanted to get that out so any of y'all that want to wish it a happy anniversary can do so.

If any of y'all want to read a book about the CCP and China, I recommend the late Simon Leys' Chinese Shadows. It is a bit dated (published in 1974) and has a strong point of view. But it is well written and informative by someone who knew his subject well.

My advice with respect to the CCP and other topics of interest is to read widely and keep an open mind. But Leys' book is a good place to start.

I also found Henry Kissinger's On China to be very interesting. Densely written, but fascinating.

For a sweeping overview of Chinese history, a good starting point is John Fairbank's China: A New History.

There is a biography of Zhou Enlai by Gao Wenqian that I think is quite good.

Pay attention to how our “US” media companies celebrate 100 years of the most murderous regime in human history.

Russia and China now taunting their power on the world is a direct result of 4 years of a bumbling idiot in the WH.

There is one benefit to having a crazy person President and that's other countries fear that will start ww3 whereas I think they have no fear in soneoneclike Joe Biden. If Trump wasnt cucked by Putin I would give Trump the clear advantage in dealing with foreign threats. We need to draw a red line with these countries and be willing to use force when they cross it.

Heres what I would start with. Automatic death penalty for any Chinese/Russian spies. Drop them from helicopter in the middle of the ocean. Then we need to fully investigate ALL people coming in from China.

That might have been true the first year or so, but Orange One was very selective of who he was willing to stand up to. In the end, he proved weak, disorganized and only concerned with his own power.

Russia has no world power. They're a regional power with a fraction of the GDP of NATO, a point our last President correctly made when asking our dolist NATO allies to pay their way so we could stop subsidizing their welfare states by paying for their defense.

China is a world power because every president since the Cold War ended has sent manufacturing, capital, and intellectual property over there as quickly as possible to pump up corporate profits and screw the domestic middle class. Every president until the guy you call a bumbling idiot.

He’s just trolling.

I think this is a good point by Boebert. I remember during the Tiananmen Square movement in 1988 that the students built a replica of the Statue of Liberty. Our country and our animating principles are incredible sources of inspiration for people around the world. And part of the brand (and a very good part) is our ability to be self-critical about the ways we fall short of those ideals.
