So who does everyone think blew up that car in Russia that killed Putin's associate's daughter? It was almost certainly an assassination attempt of the man labeled as Putin's Rasputin and who was one of the people who pushed for war with Ukraine. He was supposed to be in the car and it was a last minute change of plans that saved him.
Russia is accusing Ukraine operatives of doing it. That seems fairly reflexive of Russia though as there almost certainly was insufficient time between the occurrence and the first accusations for there to be any real investigation.
Some experts are saying it has the hallmarks of elements of a Russian security service. Car bomb assassinations were once the bread and butter of such groups. There has definitely been outrage in the Russian security services for the blame Putin has leveled at them for the failure to quickly take over Ukraine. It's possible this was the start of an internal power struggle.
Others have speculated Putin might have had this man killed. Some think he might have been critical of Putin for not going hard enough in Ukraine and that this may have resulted in him being marked for death. I'm less convinced of this, however, as Putin has the power to just make that man disappear and wouldn't have to resort to blowing him up. If it was Putin then it would have to have a false flag purpose of blaming Ukraine and whipping up more support for the war.
It's certainly a development.
