GM/Winter Meetings Thread

On a (slightly) more serious turn: would anyone consider sending Melvin and Kimbrel (and perhaps potential prospect sweetener) for a season of Price and the payroll space to either extent him or recoup a draft-pick and sign other player(s) next off-season?

I've been advocating matching up with Tigers all off-season. I'm not even interested in players. I just want payroll back.

Kimbrel + BJ for a PTNBL - Tigers assume all of the money.

There's another $27M freed up. Then we could extent Hey... er, Chris Johnson.

So you think the Tigers are going to pay nearly 30 million a year for Kimbrel?

No... they'd be paying for both. They happen to need a CF as well... But you're right. It is a steep price. But I feel Illiatch can be taken advantage of after all of these years of struggling bullpen teams

Phillies and Red Sox apparently talking about Cole Hamels. Just saw a report on Twitter that the Phillies are researching Red Sox prospects.

The A's and Billy Butler are apparently working on a contract.

Billy Butler indeed has signed three year deal with #Athletics as @RobertMurrayMLB reported.

Wonder how much he got. Not a fan.

Pretty sure all teams in the same league get a shot to claim a player then it starts with the worst record team in the other league. So the Braves could have claimed him but the Red Sox came before us.

On the topic of GM/Winter Meetings.....has anyone ever been to the Winter Meetings? I'm going to be in San Diego that week and staying across the street from the hotel it's held at.

While true I seriously doubt the Braves wanted to bring Juan back.
