Per Nick Cafardo, the Red Sox have offered Pablo Sandoval a five year deal worth $95 million

Sandoval has averaged 2.5 WAR the past three seasons. I would expect him to average 2.0 WAR over the next five years. Even in today's market $10M/win seems excessive.

The Chicago #WhiteSox just signed 1B Adam LaRoche to a 2 year, $25 million contract.

I'd project a total of 2.5 WAR over the two years for Adam. So maybe 10M/win is the new going rate for free agent hitters.

Adam's career has been a little unlucky. At least financially. He's been a nice player for a long time.
