Wow, has Billy Beane lost his mind? Terrible trade. But of course someone very good we could use goes in this type of deal. Great move by Toronto.

#Athletics trade Josh Donaldson to Toronto for Brett Lawrie, Sean Nolin, Kendall Graveman and Franklin Barreto

Franklin Barreto has the chance to be a star. Not saying that I would have made the deal but it isn't as one-sided as it seems. Barreto and Nolin are two very good prospects, then throw in Graveman all on top of Lawrie.... I think it's pretty fair. Just my opinion though.

Teams that see they can't win in the next year or two should always make these types of deals.

In some ways this is a quintessential Beane trade: deal an established commodity (Donaldson) for a younger, cheaper player you can squint really hard and see as roughly equivalent to the guy you dealt (Lawrie), all while adding three additional assets. If everything works out perfectly, Lawrie has about as much value in 2015 as Donaldson at a lower price and you recoup some of the talent you traded away to get Hammels and Samaramorinth. A big risk, of course, but Beane has about as much job security as anyone in the game.

Good deal for both sides.

We dont have what it takes to make that trade.

I don't think it was a great trade but Billy Beane gets all the benefit of the doubt in the world from me. Beane has mastered buy low and sell high.

Donaldson is a 6-7 win player at the weakest position in baseball and has 4 more years before he is a free agent. They should have gotten more for him.

Agreed, i think they got ripped, 1976 never said what we could of traded that would be better than that.

JUp, Gattis and CJ?

Lol, Lawrie is pretty good in his own right and is much cheaper. And they got some very good prospects in return. Not sure what more you should expect to get.

Tell that to A's fans, Lawrie is injury prone and Donaldson is a star player on offense and defense.

Josh Reddick is pissed, that's for sure. A's fans should be used to it though. Beane is always looking to make moves and 'go for it' -- he's almost kind of paying the piper for the Lester/Samardzija deals now.

A's designate Kyle Blanks, too, btw.
