GM/Winter Meetings Thread

I don't think so at all. The cost of those two pieces (and I think a CF and a platoon partner for 3B) would not be all that much, and you can aim for people who also play into the magical 2017 if that's still plan B.

If you tell me that we can sign Upton to an extension right now I'd agree.

If not, you can use Justin to unload BJ and pick up perhaps the 2B in the process. After that, you can use the money saved to grab a platoon partner for 3B and a SP.

You take Justin out of this lineup and we are terrible.

Rosenthal just confirmed that Hart isn't trading Upton and/or Gattis unless he gets exactly what he wants. Other clubs believe one will be dealt. Also added we might add a starter and looking to upgrade second base. Nothing new at this point.

Outside of Stephen Drew the second base market is pretty awful. Maybe sign a middle/back end starting pitcher and trade for a second basemen?

I think we should just platoon Gosselin and Pastornicky there until it makes financial sense to promote Peraza (or not, if Gosselin and Pastornicky do a good job).

Agent terry bross says dan uggla intends to make a comeback, and five teams are interested.

Dan Uggla is a free agent and eager to play again. Seven teams have inquired about him, according to a source.

Two more, overnight ... let the feeding frenzy begin!

Two questions:

1) Would the Braves be interested in bringing back Omar the Magnificent?

2) If so, would they build a package involving Gattis to get Omar and one of their relievers?

Feel free to suggest a deal. I am just curious.

Omar is owed quite the sum, I don't think you would need to kick in much other than just paying his salary.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that I can guess who his source is.

Dodgers may make Dee Gordon available. I would be up for him at second base leading off. When Peraza is ready, one of them can play third.

@jaysonst #Braves looking for a backup IF who can play short. One free agent they're intrigued by: Daniel Descalso
