can't steal first. see billy hamilton.
Actually you can steal first base.

Syndergaard hasn't thrown a pitch in the majors and didn't dominate last year. I like him in the long-term though. I think Wheeler will improve on last year, and I really like deGrom. Niese is just alright. Harvey will be good in no time.
I still like our rotation better. But if Harvey can come back and dominate right away, think I do give them an edge there, actually. IF he does that, though.
A real lead off hitter is what this team has needed for years.

You aren't claiming Gordon is a real leadoff hitter, are you?
Uh oh, I see blue lights!

Absolutely he is. Did I say he was a great hitter? Nope. He is a true lead off hitter. Especially when there are so few in the game anymore.

So if we signed Usain Bolt, would he be considered a true leadoff hitter?
Who is "we?" Which of your teams are you referring to?
I think "true" leadoff hitters just aren't that good. The #1 goal of a leadoff hitter is to be able to get on base at a good rate. And you want that hitter to be able to have some kind of speed. Just because a guy is fast doesn't make them a good leadoff hitter despite them being a "true" leadoff hitter.

I can agree with that. I just think the game is slowly reverting back to when speed in the lineup matters. At least I hope it it is because that brand of baseball is more enjoyable to me.
I have always been a fan of these types players. Henderson, Raines, Biggio (although) he wasn't necessarily the prototypical guy, but he could swipe bases and get on base. And of course Kenny Lofton who always will be my favorite player!
