Oh I bet Albies is up too.

They are going to waste a year of control with every top prospect in the system most likely.

5 years from now we are going to look back and tabulate all the value the Braves wasted with these early promotions...and I bet that figure totals over $50M easily. Meanwhile, the Braves payroll will be hovering around $150M, and folks will be wondering why the Braves can't afford better upgrades for the MLB roster...well, this wasting of resources is why.
 
What a deal to get Gohara. FO has gotten plenty wrong but the have gotten more right.
 
Keith Law said today Gohara has #2 upside and that you could argue he has a chance to be an ace but has never shown that kind of command/control. He also said he thinks Gohara and Acuna are up in September. I tend to take his opinion seriously with that kind of stuff when he talks about Atlanta. He broke the news of Gohara/Touki getting promoted, and being that Kiley used to work for him for a few years, it's probably not much of a secret who his source is.

the 'Clock' is something like 18 and under when you sign, the team can keep you off the 40 man for 5 years... if you are 19 and older then you get 4 years.

sorry forgot to answer the second part.. Ozzie was signed in 2014, so he would have to go on after next season. Acuna was signed in 2015.. so he can be a minor leaguer forever..
 
I think there is plenty to criticize when it comes to the front office, but our scouting department is phenomenal. Those guys are saving Coppy's ass.
 
Gohara has to go on the 40 man next year. I think that is the thing.

I'd rather them put Gohara in AAA and/or the majors than Allard/Soroka. He's a little older. More innings under his belt.

IMO Gohara just needs to pitch to Dansby. He has a stud slider. If I had to guess he becomes a dominant RP vs a starter.

I think Soroka would be the one under that logic (not that I'm endorsing). Gohara has already set a career high in innings this year with 88 IP (has never been above 70). Seems risky to increase his workload a huge amount by extending his year through September in the big leagues.

Soroka has 289 IP in 3 years compared to 293 IP in 5 years for Gohara. Soroka threw 143 IP last year, only at 112 so far this year.

Anyone have a reliable list on who has to go on the 40-man over the winter? I gave it a cursory look and the only two you are automatics are Gohara and Dustin Peterson. Other 4 college/5 high school or international incluide Mader, Parsons, Pike and Roney as pitchers and Didder as a hitter. I doubt any of the last five would find their way onto anyone else's roster. Not sure on Ricardo Sanchez. He only has four years of playing experience, but it may be five years from when they sign and I don't know what that would be in his case.

I think I explained it just above. It's four years for someone signed over the age of 19 (or beyond high school) and five years for someone 18 or less (unless they have played junior college). I may have the ages wrong, but for shorthand it's five years for high school and younger international guys and four years for anyone who has played ball at the post-secondary level.
 
i have no real problem here. let's see what he can do at the next level. clearly AA is not challenging him enough.

he'll be a 22 year old rookie in Atlanta next year. i'm cool with that.

I did not believe promotions were legit until I saw Keith Law broke the story. Gohara probably can handle it; he was signed at 16. But sending Tooki to that awful Mississippi team in time for August heat and misery is more like punishment.
