Going to Atlanta for a game

I may be heading down to Atlanta in a month for the Diamondbacks series. Most likely the Saturday and Sunday games. Flights to Atlanta are reasonable from Minneapolis. Plan is to get in to town Saturday afternoon. Keep busy until game time. Buddy is a Twins fan, but more or less loves to see different stadiums. Neither have been to Turner Field before and it would be another notch on our belts.

Any tips or anything you guys got for me, I'd love to hear.

The Aquarium, Centennial Olympic Park, CNN center, and the Coke factory are all really good tourist things to do.

But if this is a true man trip, you have to go to Fat Matts for some killer BBQ.

I like it.

Any ideas of where to stay. Proximity to the stadium would be ideal. Not looking to spend a lot on the room though. If I remember correctly is Turner Field downtown?

Yeah the Ted is close to downtown. I think if you stay at the Holiday Inn I think on Spring St, that would be a good bet. In the middle of all the action. Thats where we stayed for the bachelor party. I wouldn't stay next to the Ted. Crack houses galore.

There are some hotels about a mile from the stadium that would be within walking distance that would save you on parking, but i've heard bad things about them. Up to you.

Consider one of the great B&Bs in Grant Park or Inman Park. Great experience.

Well we won't be having a car at least as far as I know. So parking isn't a factor.

There is the Ramada Capitol Park which is about a 10 minute walk from Turner Field. I haven't stayed there personally, and the reviews aren't fantastic - at all, but I do know that rooms are generally quite cheap these days ($50-75 a night).

From the Ramada you can walk another 10-15 minutes to the nearest MARTA station - Georgia State - which is one stop away from Five Points where you can transfer to get to the airport or elsewhere in the Metro area.

So I did get work off that Monday. Gonna monitor airfare and make a purchase soon. Holding off on game tickets because I am sure the prices will drop as the Braves record continues to be what it is.

Costco has value tickets.. check them out if you are a member..

also, you can buy your ticket day of game at discount ticket sites for at least 50% off.. then use Braves Upgrade app to upgrade your seats in the stadium. There usually a small fee to upgrade but you could get 200 level seats for $30..

You can pay general admission and hang out at the Chop House in CF. That's what I'd do if I was going with a buddy.

I've done that a number of times. Paid only $1 for a ticket a few times, but usually less than $10. But I have gone online the day before a game and gotten tickets 3 rows behind the braves dugout for $40

Personally I wouldn't stay near the stadium at all, unless that's all you wanted to do. I'd stay somewhere else and suck it up to Uber it there and back twice
