Grade the front office this offseason.

1 year of controlled Heyward, 2 years of a relief pitcher, and a potential draft pick for 4 years of a middle of the rotation starter and a ok prospect that hasn't pitched in AA yet. (potentially 6 years)

And that's the rub. We would have had a good but not amazing team. But we would have liekly have been in the playoffs as a Wild Card and all you need is a ticket to the dance, you never know what can happen next.

A rotation of Julio, Wood, Hale, Martin, Stults, others like that isnt making the playoffs.

Grade:

Incomplete. C'mon man, they haven't even had time for the June draft yet -- which will be the biggest legacy of 2015, good or bad.

Fair point. More positive than not so far. Shelby and Peterson are going to be a huge part moving foward.

I'll show some real class and provisionally upgrade my rating from F- to F+.

We'll see how it shakes out. The season is stil lyoung. Heyward was when healthy a 5+ WAR player for us. I don't know if Shelby can regularly put up 1.5 WAR per season. Miller has pitched very well so far. But he only has 5 starts under his belt, Which means he's about 1/6 of the way through his season. If he stays this strong then he'll outproduce Heyward (not this year, but overall) , if he plays like he did last year he probably won't.

Miller is also as a pitcher a risk to miss an entire season with TJ. It's a risk, but it's part of the value when assessing a trade.

Jace Peterson will not be a huge part of the Braves moving forward. He can be a cog in the machine, but if he's one of our best players we'll be in trouble.

Miller has made 8 starts. Zeets you aren't even paying attention. Shame on you.

I don't care to get into another Heyward argument, but I still hate that we traded Heyward rather than extending him. I think some here need to realize some of us can hate seeing our favorite player or players traded without focusing or commenting on the return in the deal.

Is Heyward not healthy this year?

We did try to extend him, probably would have if he didnt want Albert Pujols money.

That was my issue with losing Heyward.

I didn't say whether or not we tried to extend him in that post. And since you do this often, you really should learn to read before responding to posts.

I think he has potential to be an above average MLB 2B. Certainly won't be a star, but he really could be a nice piece on a contending team.
