Right, they came up with it and he didn't fight it for the reasons stated in his quotes. But I am very disappointed, if he had put up the same numbers as a Yankee no way they suggest this. If Mac has great years as a Yankee they'll recommend he go into the HOF a Yankee...
 
The argument that he spent almost as long in Chicago as Atlanta and almost as many games pitched is weak. Here are the numbers that matter, which many articles I have seen very conveniently forget to mention...194 wins-88 loses as a Brave-133-112 as a Cub. A 2.63 ERA as a Brave, 3.61 as a Cub. 21 shutouts as a Brave, 14 as a Cub. 500 more strikeouts as a Brave than as a Cub. Babe Ruth had great seasons as a Red Sox, as a pitcher and a hitter. Does that mean he shouldn't have gone in as a Yankee? Maddux's HOF career was earned during his Atlanta years, just as Ruth's were as a Yankee. He should be going in as a Brave.
 
It's also not just about him as a Brave. He was a crucial piece, if not THE irreplaceable piece, of an historic dynasty in baseball. The streak is likely never to be broken. That dynasty should be acknowledged and represented within the Hall with every key player. What did the Cubs do during that span of time? One play-off appearance, knocked out in the first round, mostly all losing seasons.

Around the start of the each season, I usually get the kid-before-christmas kinda feeling during the weeks leading up to opening day.

Obviously, it's way too early for me to say Imma gonna feel different this year, but this off-season has felt equally *different* to me as a Braves fan...and not in a good way.

Don't get me wrong, been all in since '96, guess I'm just hoping this malaise sorta feeling subsides before the opener. :fredi:
 
This really pisses me off. Dont even want to see him inducted anymore. The Cubs told Maddux he wasnt very good. Then the team vilified him in the media and he got booed by the Chicago fans on opening day. He hasnt even played for the Cubs in over 20 years. How can a first ballot hall of famer equate a team he hasnt played for in over 20 years to the team he played the majority of his career?

He last played for the Cubs in 2006...363 games with the Braves and 302 with the Cubs. If the Braves had treated him better then maybe he would of picked Atlanta instead of both. Not that it really matters because everybody knows what team he had the most success with. It's not like he straight up picked the Cubs over the Braves.
 
while i agree with everything said about Greg and why he should have gone in as a Brave and think it is ****ing stupid to not have him go in as a brave

i think it is dumber to get upset over it

he is going into the hall, it is his career, i got to watch the best pitcher i will ever see pitch every 5 day growing up, he helped us win a world series

I honestly put some of the blame on the Hall. They gave him the choice of either the Cubs or the Braves. I mean, come on.
 
I was disappointed (and a little perplexed) by the choice, but it there may be other factors involved that we're not privy to. Greg just may not love us like we love him. Sniffle . . .
 
Maddux is entitled to his decision but just another sign of how f*cked up this sport really is! Even induction into its Hall of Fame can get screwed up, first with Maddux not being unanimous and then with his bust having no team logo on the cap even though I'd venture a large majority of people only think of him as a Brave.

Is there even one thing that MLB doesn't screw up??
