Guess Harris debut date

Can he pitch? Because our rotation blows.

He did in HS...

2 years older in AA than Acuna matters a lot. I agree that comparing anyone to acuna is a bad idea.

I know the bar to be better than TD and GH is very low. I just don't know if you jump up a guy w/ as little experience as him to the major leagues. It could hurt his development. He missed a whole year of playing games out of his 3 year pro career. He's not on the 40 man.

I would think they would much prefer Waters, since waters is older, more experienced and on the 40 man. Not sure if Waters is good or can stay healthy. I've been high on him, higher than most. But he's got to get that OBP up. I do think he could be just as good as TD if not better. Should be able to be as good as Heredia.

I think it's foolish to comp Harris to Acuna. Acuna is a perennial MVP candidate capable of posting an 8 win season when everything clicks for 150 games.

I also think it's foolish not to give Harris ~100 PAs before the deadline while the team is starting guys like Arcia and TD in the OF.

A player doesn't have to be "LHH Acuna" to be extremely valuable. A player also doesn't have to be 100% "ready" to be an upgrade over the current OFers.

Harris needs another 100+ PAs in AA/AAA, which should happen by early June. At that point he will probably be the 2nd best OFer in the organization, and he needs to be given a shot to help the Braves defend their WS title. If he flops over 100+ PAs at the MLB level he goes back to AAA, and AA goes shopping for OFers via trade.

I think TD and GH are both guys that are going to give you above avg defense in a corner and give you a 650 or so OPS.

If that is true, then you could argue that it is not going to take much for Waters or Harris to be a big upgrade. Both should be as good if not better on defense.

We need our two year contract man in Rosario to be healthy and not suck. Looks like we can't count on that now and have to just keep him on ice until we play the dodgers.

I hated, and still do the expanded playoffs. Maybe it helps us get in this year.

I think we’ll be fine and win the division. We won’t play like this all year. We can only go up from here. Luckily we have 2 good outfield prospects that will be ready pretty soon and that’s our biggest weakness right now. I expect Morton to right the ship also.

The bar isn't Acuna. It's Heredia. And I think there's a decent chance he's better than Heredia.

And we're going to need better play and players to win the division. Even with SSS, we don't look as strong as we need to.

There have been reports of huge exit velos from Harris since his draft year in the complex league. There have been a few reports of 111+ mph exit velos this year.

His GB% is down from 50% to 46% this year, so hopefully that continues to drop this year and in the future.

That would be something to get excited about. Having Harris hit would set this team up nicely with the new emergence of Wright and potential stud reliever of Strider.

Harris shouldn’t get the call and start his clock until he’s truly ready in my worthless opinion …
We have the potential for a long window…..with a flag flying already

Man I wish I had access to MiLB statcast data.

Depending on "111+" means (did he max out at 115? Or did he max out at 111.1 a couple times?), that likely puts him just under the top end exit velocities of guys like Acuna/Olson (116+, or 75 grade raw) and Riley/Ozuna (~114, or 70 grade raw).

If he starts lifting the ball more without sacrificing contact, he could become a stud.

This is from the official Mississippi Braves account claiming the 111 mph: https://twitter.com/mbraves/status/1519464699716378626?s=20&t=h9hJa1WLxyLwjDWtzNUTpg. I remember seeing mentions of him having a few with similar readings, but I'm having trouble finding them now. It's annoying how the guy running a random team social media account has access to those numbers but it's so hard for people who actually care to find it.

I still think they have to factor in if Harris coming to MLB now hurts his development. He does have the tools to be a stud, so they don't want to rush him.

That's why they pay those guys the big bucks to make those decisions.

The guy seems to have been solid in spring training. He seems to mentally handle being around the big guys.

again, we are all excited about this Kid.. but those are AA stats. take them with a grain of salt.

And the being 2 years younger matters a ton. Tearing up AA at 21 is very good. Tearing up AA at 19 is where you get to potentially generational.

As for the Riley comp...he wasn't close to a 4-5 WAR player when he made his debut.

I will be glad to eat these words but the Braves will not win this division. It's the Mets to lose which is sad coming off of the championship but the reality is we just got extremely lucky in '21.

It's early yet but it's on the brink of slipping away. The Mets' problem in the past, besides keeping pitchers healthy, has been poor managing, and Showalter has got these guys playing hard.

We are even more games back of the last WC than we should be, but that seems like a more reasonable goal for now. The weirdness is there's 4 super-hot teams in the NL right out of the gate, all in that .667 range. Historically, only one of those teams is going to keep that pace. The Braves have played all four, and are .500 against them. We have a losing record against all the sh**ty teams, strangely enough.

We shall see. I'm a fan and I'm going to be mad when we lose. But I'm glad we have baseball after the labor stuff. I am so happy about the WS. I think this team will be in the playoff hunt and interesting all year. I'm not going to lose too much perspective. Lucky is fine. We were the best team lots of years IMO and did not win. If we don't win, I'm good as long as it's not the Dodgers, Mets or Yankees.

Back to Harris, AA brought him up in an athletic Q&A and said he was doing well. Also mentioned Shewmake doing well and Waters being back.

I'm curious to know what the thought process will be to bring him up. I remember being suprised when they brought Dansby and Soroka up. Dansby was a different leadership team.

The Mets aren’t anything great. We have sucked against terrible teams and that will change. I’ll never believe in the Mets until they give us a real reason to. The division is still ours to lose and a month and a half of baseball doesn’t change that.

We didn't get extremely lucking in 21. We lost Acuna and made a lot of smart moves to win a winnable division.

Albies has a .220 BABIP, that's about what you need to know about our offense this season. And we're still hanging around with an unlucky offense, and bad pitching from good pitc hers.

It's absolutely comical how the modern sports fan tries to explain away luck like it doesn't exist.

Who the **** is doing that? Nice straw man as usual.

The Braves got lucky during the last two months of the season, yes. They also spent the first 4 months of 2021 being the unluckiest team in baseball by a wide margin. The thing about luck, which you should understand if you’re going bring it up, is that it typically evens out. That’s what happened in 2021.
