Gun Violence

And whats next? Tge weapon that causes the most gun deaths in america?

what's next?

I go to the Drivers License place stand in line, take a test assuring the officers I can handle the physical responsibility , prove I have insurance in case there is a fiduciary responsibility in case
a) someone dies or is injured due to my negligence
b) I display reckless behavior resulting in anothers loss or damage to property

...........

If I have a record of abusing the privilege of driving a machine that can take out dozens at a time -- that privilege can and will be revoked and I will face the possibility of jail time

Should I have such a record, not only I not be granted a drivers license but even if I do, no insurance company will cover my dead beat ass.
Owning a weapon is a privilege. As is owning/driving a car
This isn't hard
.......

Next week we will register a dog

How does any of this stop any of the recent shootings?

losing your rights -
what rights are you losing ?
oh, the right to play lawn darts.

or the right to drive a car without a license
or not register your dog

well, what rights are you supposedly losing ?

and so what.
Why does your interpretation of your rights trump a another's rights to " life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" ?

I see owning a dog as much a right as owning an AR-15
I see the right to play lawn darts equal to the right to own an AR-15

And, why do I have to stop at stop signs ?
.............................................................

I would think your rights stop where they infringe on another's well being

I've been searching the Bible for god-given rights and while

I've found the right to get your father drunk and sleep with

him (Genesis 19:30-38) and the right to sell your daughter

into slavery (Exodus 21:7-11), I'm not finding any god-given right

to an AR-15. help me, scholars!

Me owning an AR-15 doesn't infringe on someone's right to life or liberty

Society "oppresses" its citizens in all sorts of ways.

People are told they have to vaccinate their children if they want access to public schools.

People have to participate in social security.

People have to make themselves available for military drafts.

People have to buy insurance in order to legally operate their cars.

These are choices that different societies make in various ways. Some try to accomodate "dissenters" more than others. It is true that in some sense those decisions are oppressive and infringe on rights. That's what a political system is for. To work out these competing claims.

I don't think you owning an AR-15 is a dangerous thing. But to have millions of assault rifles out there circulating IS a dangerous thing. Let's not trip ourselves over a fallacy of composition.

In 2012, the United States government took action to ban the sale of “Bucky Balls,” a magnetic toy, because they pose a danger to children.

Nobody died from ingesting Bucky Balls.

Nearly 40,000 people in America died from gunshots last year.

Often the hardest part of being an adult is understanding it isn't always about oneself or what is best for me. (me me)
I don't think Anderson Davis's family gives a flying **** about the excuse of your so called "rights"

This is Anderson Davis. She is 17 months. She was shot by a gun in #OdessaShooting.

She has shrapnel in her right chest.

She has a hole through her bottom lip and tongue.

Her front teeth were knocked out.

Here is how to help her: https://gofundme.com/f/17-month-old-that-was-shot

A gofund me for a 17 month old child that was shot up on the street with a war weapon some selfishly defend the "right" to own.
The email Lady coined a term for people of that ilk

The day you realize that an emotional argument wont work when trying to take away my constitutional rights is the day you'll save yourself a lot of time.

It's the same reason why you couldn't care less that there are more third trimester abortions than gun homicides in this country

Obviously, nothing prevents any of us from caring about both. It's not as if action on one prevents action on the other.
