If I were to beat someone to death with a shovel, should the shovel manufacturer be liable?
How about the car manufacturer if I drove my car through a parade?

If you can dig a hole with a gun you'd have an interesting point.
Guns do one thing, shoot bullets. They don't do anything else.
That being said, I don't believe manufacturers should be held liable unless they're being reckless in their advertising, advisements, etc. The real villains are the lobbyists anyway. NRA is who they should be going after.
Incredibly, guns have been used to shoot things other than humans for hundreds of years now. Much like cars and shovels have other uses.
But they only shoot things. Shovels dig holes. Cars are propelled transportation. A gun is designed to kill and destroy, comparing it to something else isn't really what I would do when trying to make a point.
I mean, go ahead and try to get some venison with a shovel.

It's crazy how much things have changed. I graduated HS in 1995, and there were no less than 30 trucks in the parking lot with shotguns and rifles in plain sight. Guys would go to straight to school from deer hunting or straight to deer hunting after school. No one freaked out, and no one got shot. What changed?
And this isn't allowed at my old HS now
