Was gonna make a similar thread, he had a very good year.
I'm interested if we bring him back or what offers he gets from other teams.

Aaron Harang's 2014 campaign: 204.1 IP, 71 BB, 161 K with a 3.57 ERA. 25 of his 33 outings were quality starts. #Braves
People talk about the offense but replacing 400+ solid innings from Erv/Harang will be hard as hell to replace with little money available.

Harang's contributions have been enormous and I'm grateful for what he did for the team this year.
There is one small detail that makes me think we should probably pass in terms of bringing him back. The 6.4% HR/fly ball ratio. This is well below the 10.2% that he has posted for his career. Sure much of that is from his years with the Reds. But even in a neutral ballpark like Turner field, that's not a number that is going to be repeated. The 4.03 xFIP is a fairer representation of his work this season. Santana by the way has put up 3.47 xFIP (good for 26th among qualifying major league pitchers) and 3.39 FIP this year. Making a qualifying offer seems like the obvious move with him.
If he and Laird move on maybe the rest of our players will finally get something to eat and won't be so lethargic
The dietary angle is an under-explored aspect of the team's collapse.
I think Harang and Laird explored it thoroughly.
With cataclysmic consequences for the rest of the team. My understanding is that Gattis missed the last month of the season due to starvation. The whole strep throad/kidney stones thing was a cover. Simmons has looked rather emaciated of late was well.
A better manager would have imposed mandatory rationing.
