Unlike the front office, I don't think 2016 should just be an aw shucks season. The way you build momentum for the new park is to seriously compete in 2016, IMO.

Hard to do that with Bourn and Swisher. Those are pretty expensive to waste away on the bench.

I hope we keep Swisher on the DL until ST. He needs to get healthy. If he could get close, he could be a plus getting some starts in LF and a couple at 1B and being one of the first guys off the bench late. Limited playing time like that might keep him healthy and will have the added bonus of making sure his option doesn't vest.

If Swisher is used as a chess piece, football term i know, but use him to spell Freeman some days, and put him in LF/RF. And use him as the main pinch-hitter, an expensive one yes.

Let him rest up til next year.

Bourn has hit better lately, and caveout with both is they could be trade chips at the deadline next year since both are on expiring deals.

We still have some money to spend and i do agree i hope they sign some guys to make the team better next year. Ideally a guy like Price but doubt it.

We have Maybin, Bourn, and Markakis in the OF and Freeman at 1B. Swisher's option has a less than 5% chance of vesting and that's being generous.
