Harvey Weinstein

Sounds like most of Hollywood and a a lot of the DNC should have called him out and much sooner... So much of Hollywood, Washington, and New York City must be filled with this type of evil.

Nytimes had a piece on him being a pervert over a decade ago and they didn’t run it. No late night comedians or SnL will even talk about him.

It isn't just Hillary.

Why are we surprised at liberal hypocrisy? Just like climate enthusiasts taking private jets. They don't practice what they preech.

The Obamas have taken some criticism for not speaking out about Harvey yet, but they are probably focusing on more important things at the moment.

*I don't mean that in a snarky way, I mean that in a "stuff your quote, I am making sure this didn't impact my kid" way.

Colbert went after Weinstein last night, as did Fallon and Kimmel. I don't see how that isn't sufficient, given that Harvey Weinstein isn't particularly newsworthy outside of this story. SNL probably shouldn't have pulled its punches, but whatever.

After a couple of days of outrage that they didn't say a thing. Only Oliver went after him as the news was fresh.

Even then, the pressure would have been from both sides. Regardless, it's late night comedy, I'm not particularly concerned with their timeliness on given issues.

I don't watch SNL or any of the late night hosts, and I really don't care what they think of Weinstein. I just thought it was interesting that Lorne Michaels felt the need to comment on it, and more interesting that "it's a New York thing" was his justification, despite the barrage of Trump skits lately.

It's certainly a bit hypocritical, however I'd argue that SNL was not exactly an enemy of Trump until he became a Presidential candidate, and New York roundly rejected him.

And by new York you just mean the dense cities right?

Given how doubtful it is that Michaels was talking about rural New York state, yes.

Just want to make sure here. I don't think the country realizes how much of the landmass of new York doesn't support liberal policies.

What's the point in condemning him now? Seems he was a bully and a pervert and now he's lost his job. Where is the rest of the story? We know these type of people are great at compartmentalizing their behavior so that most people never see the ugly stuff.

Yeah, cultural conservative cartoon villains like Hollywood, NYC, and Washington have this problem.

As opposed to, say, megachurches or certain religious organizations? Or the Boy Scouts. Or, heck, Baylor University.

Seems like institutions that aggregate tremendous wealth and or power also engender a culture that allows this, and are incentivized to hide it.
