Has Markakis changed his swing?

I mean he has gone from 1.4 to 1.2 to 0.7 last year.

And he’s going to be up to what... 3 to 4 this year? Again that isn’t really that strong of an indicator of true regression. I mean obviously he is at an age where his skills are diminishing, so he isn’t worthy of any long term commitment. But I would feel comfortable stating he would be at or above 1 WAR next year.

Edit: FWIW, his BR WAR — 1.7, 1.7, 0.7, 2.1

Two outliers in both direction and a median of 1.7.

Markakis leads the nl in hits. Let’s say he hangs on for 5 more years. Averages 150 hits per season and reaches 3000. Is there a player with 3000 hits that isn’t in the hall of fame?

This isnt a rhetorical question... just curious what happens when a guy has 3000 and hasn’t really done anything special

If he plays 5 more years he will own the record for grounding into double plays. That’s pretty special in my book.

I would love to see him get to 3000 just to hear the debate if he is hall worthy.

Love him or hate him you have to give nick some respect. He has had a solid career.

Rafael Palmeiro as a juicer is the only one who's Hall eligible with 3000 hits who isn't banned from baseball
