Hello 2nd place...

Record wise, the Braves are about the level I think people should expect. You just need too perfect of pitching when you have 2.5 hitters in the lineup. When one of those guys goes through a typical slump, it's tough to win.

Are you guys surprised that a poster named Virginia Brave is the one who did this. Probably just like GF his geography made him a Nats fan.

You could not be further from the truth. Virginia is Braves country except right up in the DC area. Especially southwestern VA where I am from. Billy Wagner and I grew up in the same county just for geographical reference. This board is as bad as the Nats board last year. The Pollyannas that think just because we have Braves wrote on the jersey we are going to the playoffs are just in denial. Yesterday's loss put us at 17-23 over our last 40 games. Not sure why anybody has confidence in this team. So the question becomes what has happened to this team? Frankly the pitching stats are skewed by the over their head April that the guys put up. You can't blame it on Uggs anymore he hasn't played in a month. So what can it be blamed on? Lack of on field leadership no Huddy, no Mac, and nobody has filled Chipper's shoes.

If we do win the division this year, Fredi should be given tons of props.

Last year lots of people said the team won the division in spite of Fredi, because we coasted to a big lead in the beginning and remained steady the rest of the year.

Well now that we're under more stress this year in the race, if we do come back to win it, he deserves props.

If Fredi planned this out the entire time, what a genius.

I'm not saying we're winning the division or making the playoffs, but a couple of things here. For one, it's June 12, and far better Atlanta teams have had bigger deficits to overcome at this point in the year. Second, the Nats are our bitch. That being said, we had a chance to really open up a huge lead in this division and couldn't do it. Maybe this team needs a strong challenger within the division to give it a kick in the ass.

Ok,but if we lose can we get a real manager in here?

Really? We lose and this happens? Suck it up, it's baseball. Sports are hard. Let the team play through their problems and we'll be fine. The Nats won't stay hot.

Lol wow. Can't say this place isn't funny

You can't honestly say the Braves were as good as their initial hit streak. The starting pitching was lights out. They covered up the offense very well during that stretch. The starting pitching is still good, but the offense is pretty much what it always has been. Now I don't think the Braves are as bad as recent records would indicate, but they are closer to a .500 team maybe a few over than a team that's going to win 90 games.

We are who we are, and what I believed we were, even when we we're winning a lot of games early on due to great starting pitching that was unreal and hot hitter in Freeman. The starting pitching is still good, very good most of the time, but not lights out like early on, and the offense is still dreadful and woefully inconsistant and incapable of doing things to manufacture runs and get them in.

The last couple of weeks have been telling, though, as we should have been able to make hay against the likes of mediocrity of the Red Sox, Mariners, D'Backs, and Rockies and be able to distance us from the pack. We've failed miserably and have an upward climb going foward unless something drastically happens like a roster shakeup, Walker/Fletcher being release, or Walker/Fletcher finding some magic dust which is unlikely.

I like Wren and think has done a good job, primarily at keeping our young studs and core, but this roster is deeply flawed. It starts with Uggla and BJ. The bench is arguably the worst in the majors and I think there are better options in AAA, and the bullpen roles haven't been defined due to injuries and poor management.

I really don't know what else can be done, at this point we are who we are, and hope we can be better in 2015.

Just like any other MLB team. Their winning percentage will play to the level of their bullpen. Even Yankees with Rivera. If they couldn't get him the ball they went no where. If they had horses to get him the ball they'd win.

Kinda like the Braves right now.

Agree on both, except I have no feelings one way or the other on Wren. He is who he is. But the $29.5 million per year he has invested in two non-core players really puts in a crimp in any positive feelings I might have about the guy.

The difference between this year and last is that we got hot when the Nats were down and put a lot of distance between us and them. That's not always a death sentence for the second place team, but it sure relaxes the team on top and we were able to cover our shortcomings (Uggla, Upton the Elder). We haven't had that same run this year (and maybe we will), but our offense is just flat-out miserable.

I think there are better options in AAA to Uggla, but he's not going anywhere, but I don't know if a better 25th guy would make much difference on this team. I think the bullpen has been a much bigger problem than the bench this year (and don't get me wrong, our bench is bad).
