Ole Hersh might be the most relatable candidate in the history of federal politics. He's just as clueless on issues as his base is.
I remember when Ben Carson was on the debate stage. Any little thing that came out of his mouth that sounded even halfway coherent, there were a few people in the audience wildly clapping. Like supporting an elementary schooler at a spelling bee.
Can't wait for the thunderous applauses at a Trump-Herschel rally where the people have no idea what's being said but they're clapping and cheering anyways.

I wouldn't say his base is clueless. They're well aware of the scorn liberals have for them. That's what gets people like MTG elected.

What do people who vote for her expect from the rest of us?
But it is a neat piece of political jujutsu (Justin Amash has his own copyrighted term for it) to blame the libs for things like folks voting for MTG.
I guess the doctrine of personal responsibility for the choices people make takes a back seat to blaming the libs these days.
The people of western North Carolina just provided a splendid example of how voters from a party can expel a rotten egg when they find one in their midst. Too bad the voters of NW Georgia couldn't embrace that sort of example. Instead they embraced the rotten egg herself.

Here is a hard, indisputable, truth for you. Find the most ignorant, uneducated, uncouth, lazy, backwoods, hillbilly in the country. Their worldview is as valid as yours, their life has the same value, their vote counts as much.
Rhetoric from MTG and Trump and Gaetz about how much the elites look down on the masses is effective for exactly one reason: it's true. They've seen it their entire lives, they still see it everyday. As my Appalachian American brethren would say, piss on your scorn.

Dumb is dumb my friend. And the rest of us shouldn't have to pretend otherwise. The world is not some sort of safe place for a particular variety of snowflake. Sorry for any hurt feelings and all that jazz. When my students come up with dumb **** I offer them an opportunity to give the next lecture and I sit quietly in the back with my popcorn. It helps them learn faster that way. Scorn is a powerful teaching tool. I don't have to say a thing because the other students take them apart. People should not be coddled for dumbness and dumb ideas.
But it is a shame that the splendid example of the people of western North Carolina was not embraced by the voters of NW Georgia. They showed it is possible to react in a mature manner when a bad egg is found in their midst. Not all voters have been embracing the bad egg just cuz of liberal scorn.

It is not hard to imagine at all unfortunately because a large part of political discourse as we'll all noticed centers around owning the libs or blaming the libs. Whatever happened to the doctrine of personal responsibility for the choices people make. I guess it is only selectively adhered to by the folks who like to preach it.

The story hasn't changed from 2016. Trump realized there was anger and frustration about being looked down as unsophisticated rubes among the crowd you look down on as unsophisticated rubes. He openly addressed it. It worked.
One might expect the self styled intellectuals to rub a few brain cells together and realize after some self reflection that their condescension provided fertile ground for anyone willing to speak to it. Our intellectual elites decided to double down instead, after all, who do those upstart commoners think they are?
