Heyman on Braves' trade chips and Olivera

He's only 26, and still smells faintly of his 1st-round-pick status. Hey, we love upside, right?

that is true, he wouldn't cost much of anything, has upside, and has some power which this offense could use.

we can trade for him. Most teams don't make claims off of revocable option waivers out of courtesy. But we could make them an offer of a guy like Matt Lipka and probably nab him if we wanted. I wasn't suggesting putting in a claim for him. I just reckoned that the Jays would let him go for next to nothing since they don't have much use for him with Donaldson at 3b and better backup options available.

Red Sox are apparently looking for a backup OF'er who can start if needed. I wonder if we could package Frenchy and Teheran for a big return from them... He still sucks, but Frenchy is killing lefties this year, and he could put up some homers and doubles off the monster.

As much as I've ragged on Frenchy over the years he has usually hit lefties well and would be a good platoon option.

Trade "proposals" are obviously usually not my thing, but here's somebody with his thinking cap on!

I like that idea.. but I wouldn't think the Soxs needed any position players at this point. But if they do, then we match up really well with them.. Send them Neck instead.

another cheap 3b option just came available. Dodgers just released Alex Guerrero, so any team that signs him is only on the hook for the pro-rate min salary.

Braves should be the first to call him. If not they're crazy as he's a no risk cheap option that if he starts to hit more has the power we need at least one position (be that 3B or LF). He was worse in LF than 3B so seems best a fit at third if that continues. So teams with third base needs would be the most likely to target him outside of teams in AL who can use him at DH.

I agree, this is the dictionary definition of a "no risk signing" we can give him a starting job right out of the gate , I doubt many others can offer that. If he sucks, so what?
