Heyward to Cubs for less than $200M

I remember Heyward having some good games in Chicago as a Braves, i'm sure he will do well in that stadium...

On another note, all of St.Louis is on suicide watch after from the sounds of it

The just signed Lackey and Heyward away from the Cards who combined gave them 9.6 WAR in 2015. This is a giant swing for the two teams.

I'm sure this is going to bring back up the Soler trade rumors.....seriously, Teheran and Inciarte make us a better team than Soler, so in no way should we trade them for Soler....

I like Soler and he'd really help this offense, but I'm so torn in this regard. I love Teheran and I think this team REALLY needs a vet like him in the rotation. That being said, a guy like that could really push the offense on this team quickly and we have how many pitchers that will be good soon enough?

I don't think you can consider Teheran a vet.

I don't think the Cubs can add much more payroll, so I doubt they could take Neck. If they are going to trade Soler they are going to get a Teheran-level guy or better, not a prospect. I think it's very unlikely the Braves trade Teheran.

prob right....but I think I'm holding onto Tehran. Soler has all kinds of tools but I'm not sold he reaches them. I'm worried he's more of what he's shown far than he is the 5 tool guy.

Inciarte is a league avg hitter with elite CF defense. The Cubs have a hole in CF. I think Inciarte is a big piece. I'd up Blair to Wisler (definitely Folty).

If I'm giving up Tehran right now I want Soler plus some more position prospects. I'm thinking blockbuster of Tehran + Mallex + Jenkins + lower level pitcher for Soler + Happ + Zagunis + Contreras + Candelario

I'll rage if we trade Inciarte AND Teheran. That's an overpay. I don't even really want just Teheran, but I could deal. Inciarte is awesome.

Heyward’s contract guarantees him less than $185MM and is believed to be for eight years, reports Wittenmyer

Reports are a little less than $185 million. That's a discount. Jeez. He wanted to win.

Reported to be 8 years which is right in the 23 million per year range. That's a really good deal for Heyward. If the Nats offer for 200 is to believed he gave up about 2 million a year to play for a team that looks to be really good for several years instead of going to the circus that is the Nats. Smart choice.

Inciarte and Wisler would be a huge overpay for Soler. Even Inciarte and Blair would be an overpay at this point. The longer I've thought about it, the less I like Soler. He was a replacement-level player last year. There's no way any team should allow the Cubs to get premier return for a guy who has only proven that his RF defense is atrociously bad.

The Cubs are trending in the right direction to win now and in the future.....the gnats might be competitive next year but they don't have the outlook the cubs do

The nats probably won't be better than they were this year. Lost Zimmerman, Paps, Escobar, and Desmond I think? Paps ain't gone yet but he will be.

I'd love him here.

Wrigley will be a much better venue for Heyward than the Nats stadium. If he goes there and starts clubbing 25 HRs a year then there's a good bet he could score another big payday in the future. I wonder if he'll get an opt out.
