Heyward update...

I broke my jaw once. It sucks, you can't eat. Six weeks is it. Hope he can work out some in weeks 4 and 5. I kept getting the dry heaves, pretty awful with your mouth wired shut.

We have three more games scheduled against the Mets. I suggest that the Braves forfeit those games now. That team is bad for your health.

This absolutely blows. He was finally putting it all together.

Hang in there, J-Hey. Just listen to "Through the Wire" on repeat for 6 weeks and come back ready to roll.

Something tells me Jason will be back sooner rather than later. He is a tough kid and there is no doubt Cj will have him hitting like he was before the injury.

This absolutely sucks. Losing our best player for the rest of the season is going to be rough. I have serious doubts about how quickly you come back from this but any Heyward for the playoffs is better than no Heyward.

I'm really trying to think of ways to stay positive but this !@%*@& blows. Until Justin Comes back, what we'll be putting out there will barely be recognizable as an MLB lineup.

Just sick ... as everyone has said time for other to step up their game ... BJ, Jordan, Gattis, Uggla (when he returns)and Reed needs to get well sooner than later ...

One thing I think this does is now you have to be smarter about how much you play BJ. You have to make up those runs Heyward was creating somewhere, and BJ's not gonna do it...BTW, I apologze for any typos...this is the day off my diet/workout plan and the wife broke out the Sailor Jerry's....

I think Heyward going down means we shoudl stick to BJ in CF. honestly considering Schafer and Gattis have been equally sucking lately. Bossman should be plopped in the lineup and stuck in the 8 hole and just pray that he gets better. We'll need him for the stretch run.

So I'm guessing the lineup for now will be something like

Schafer

JUpton

Freeman

McCann

CJ

Simmons

BJ

Second base clusterfluck

Or

Simmons

JUpton

Freeman

McCann

Johnson

Gattis

BJ

second base

And when Uggla returns, put him in between Simmons and BJ or ahead of Simmons?

I really hope not. But I guess we have no other choice.

Schafer has stank since coming back from the DL

I would go with

Justin
Freddie
Johnson
Mac
Simmons
Schafer
Bossman
2B (why can't La Stella just get a callup?)

I'm cool with trying Justin at leadoff, not so much with Freeman second, but I guess it could work. Wish BJ could get going and put him at leadoff.

Ddnt he take 3 1/2 weeks to heal from a 14 day surgery?
Are you talking about the appendectomy?

Ummm...yeah. I had one when I was 13. It didn't burst or anything, but it was close, and it was miserable. Even the day or two of stomach pains that kept coming and going -- and eventually just stayed -- leading up to the surgery were excruciating. I wasn't completely bed-ridden for a week after surgery, but I was close. Then I went back to school the second week. I played basketball and was doing very light stuff during practice (shooting drills, the "get loose" passing and dribbling drills, etc.) during that week, and didn't get back to going full-speed until the 3rd week after practice. Now, obviously I wasn't a world-class athlete and was probably a bit of a wuss; but it can take about a month to get back to 100% after having an appendectomy. And even then you're not quite in the same kind of shape you were pre-surgery, so you spend another week or so working yourself back into legit game shape.

You guys stay on this. I'm gonna keep handling writing my screenplay "Doogie Blauser," about a 14 yr old prodigy MLB shortstop...

The worst part of this is, we may not be the #1 in the NL anymore. That's how valuable Heyward's defense and offense are to our team.
