Hillary vs. Trump, 2016 Presidential Debates

Well, I'm not sure fine is quite accurate. He left tons of room for Trump to make this into another glaring example of media bias and that just plays into Trump's game plan.

Oh, but Trump is a buffoon - he could have easily and could have constantly pivoted to her but like others have said, he's too much of a thin- skinned narcissist. And yeah, he might not want to play the racist card so much. Good grief.

I agree that Holt let Trump take over. But Trump put his own foot in his mouth. The email question did come up. Hillary admitted guilt then pivoted like a true politician. Donald was all about self. Self absorbed and selfish. I would have more respect if he apologized to Obama and the black community. He did not and will not address the issue. Promoting Stop and Frisk which is racist policing policy is not speaking to this community.

While people say the debate did not more the wheel in anyones direction...it still does not mean Trump has enough white votes to win. He keeps alienating minority communities. Bush won by appealing to minority communities enough to steal some votes. Wasnt this what that 2012 report after the election was about? Why the republicans lost because they arent appealing to minority communities.

I'd be surprised if it moves the dial any to be honest.

Completely agree. Both candidates have their hardcore fans who minds are made up no matter what they say or do. I can't believe many undecided voters were convinced either way tonight. Good news is that there are two more debates. Bad news is that there are two more debates.

God.....Help.....Us

I'm really struck that Trump didn't do the Crooked Hillary schtick to her face. A bully, but also a coward.

Panic mode? She could have destroyed him and didn't and it scares you. Has Dementia/Alzheimers set in?

Working on a deadline, so I skipped the debate (my low blood pressure remained low), but everything I watched on the 10 o'clock news and read this morning makes my thoughts the same as Bedell's. I doubt the needle moved a lot. Probably tips to Hillary a bit because Trump really can't lay out a detailed vision of what he'd do. Everything stays at the 30,000 foot level for him, which may continue to work, but my guess is the undecideds may want more details. They may not like Hillary, but they have a pretty good idea of what they will get with her and Trump is a total wild card.

has anyone called Sean Hannity yet?

with debates even more damaging is the after shock. Conventional wisdom was Gore won the debate where he rolled his eyes and and made weird noises.
As time went on,that cost him. Of course Conventional Wisdom declared Nixon the winner in the 1960 debates. The days after told a different story.
Ford -Poland,
"Please proceed Governor"

In this case Trump's melt down will be analyzed and deconstructed ad nauseum - and it won't be pretty. And there was so much of it it won't stop
One tweet I saw last night concerned his constant interruptions and interjections. The tweet brought up that every woman has lived through that with a bad- condescending boyfriend/husband/boss/co-worker/ and how Trump personified those memories.
Another was he invoked Rosie O'Donnell -- or the woman's weight

How's about his club in Palm Beach that was open to minorities. How many people of color saw that as patronizing or where his excuse for 1970's law suit involving housing discrimination "everyone did it"
Race ? Stop and Frisk? ... ... ... ...

Most shocking to me and hopefully this will be replayed and replayed was where he advocated China invading N Korea.
Let that settle in .
China invades N Korea and pushed by a candidate for President of the US
That is a TV commercial all on it's own.

Let the dust settle until we declare winners and losers and the long term effect on the election.

And there was stamina --- HRC never took a sip of water

One weird moment that I don't think has been mentioned is when Trump advocated staying in Iraq with a footprint of more than 10,000 troops, then--pretty much in the next breath--jabbered about how we shouldn't be the world's policeman.

I agree with Weso - Trump actually made some sense at the beginning, and made good points on economy, where Hilary of course is a total loser and wants to ride this wave of the fed induced, $10T deficit bubble that Obama has left us with. She doesn't understand economics either 9and I'm not sure Trump does either, but he at least is in the ballpark).

but then he went off the rails and looked like a fool.

Oh, and my favorite line of the night.. at the end when Hilary criticized Trump bc he believes that "women should only get paid as much as men if they do as good of a job"... anyone else catch that?

I did...rewound the dvr last night because she kind of snuck that one in there.

trump contradicting himself within minutes is far from weird.

TRUMP: "Because you look at some of these countries, you look at North Korea, we’re doing nothing there. China should solve that problem for us. China should go into North Korea. China is totally powerful as it relates to North Korea."

I think he makes a good point - not quite agreeing with your characterization of his comment as 'advocating for China invading North Korea'.

Why don't the Democrats ever want to talk about North Korea?

Democrats had open dialog with N Korea until Bush 43 cut off communication. The situation rapidly deteriorated

Secondly, suppose for a minute Trump did win and those same remarks at the UN or at a G8 meeting or NATO Conference

Thirdly- if a politician at this level needs handlers (or baseball message board posters for that matter) come back to explain - if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is not a Giraffe

I meant points as in policy solutions or detailed plan.
What you are calling points were a grocery list of grievances.

Just like the guy at the bowling alley

Did HIlary lay out any detailed plans to solve her issues?

I mean, I heard that she's going to give away a bunch of free stuff by taxing the wealthy... but since we know that doesn't mathematically work, what did she say specifically?
