Home field advantage

Some combination of 4 Braves wins/Cardinals losses and 3 Braves wins/Dodgers losses will get it through the NLCS. WS is AL because of the all-star game.

I guess Pittsburgh and Cincy are still mathematically capable. 2 Braves wins/Pirates losses and 1 Braves win/Reds loss, assuming we have those tiebreakers also.

Basically 3 wins should do it barring STL running the table, 2 might still be OK.

What do we have to do to get home field for the playoffs?

magic # is 3 vs the Dodgers 3 Braves wins or Dodgers losses will give us home field vs them. # is 4 vs the Cards. Four wins or Cards losses give us #1 seed, home field vs rest of NL and first round vs wild card.

For Cards and Dodgers, yes. Not sure on Pirates and Reds (who play each other and are thus unlikely to factor in).

Bowman just did an article.

The Braves could hire Druw as an assistant hitting coach. He could finally teach our hitters how to properly smile during their AB's.

Get the 1st seed and play the WC in a 5 game series or be passed by the Cardinals and play the Dodgers in a 5 game series.

Easy to see what is more preferable. Just win. :tchop:

Probably have to win out, presently tied with Cards for the lead b4 tonites game...
the Cards will be playing the Cubs the rest of the season and probably will sweep..

We don't have to win out, our magic number is 4, so we have to win 4 out of 5, assuming the Cardinals sweep. And you just can't assume the Cardinals will sweep. I'm sure they'll bench a few of their regulars to rest them before the playoffs.

Read it again I said probably..
And u can't assume they won't sweep or assume the Braves will take 3 out of 4.
that's why they play the games.....why would they rest players the when they can have first place..
they haven't won the division yet.. looks like after tonite the Braves will be one half
game back..if they win tomorrow they will be tied again..

"Probably have to win out" to me means you're assuming we'd have to win all of our games because the Cardinals would sweep. That wasn't the case before tonight.

They can rest during the play in game, and days off before that.

Home field in baseball is pretty huge.

And they have an off day tommorow so I'm sure they'll play all 3 this weekend, or the starters will.

During our 14-year playoff run, we played 25 postseason series. In 17 of those, we had homefield and went 9-8. The other 8, we were 3-5.

I'd rather not have homefield.

Decisive Homefield Advantage Games have not been too kind to us.
