Camille Paglia has made her career as a contrarian and provocateur. I'm not surprised to see her throwing around terms like "Stalinist" and "fascist." I also think they're inappropriate. That's a pretty strong term.

I'd like to see open debate, rather than demonization. On the other hand, GLAAD does exactly what other advocacy groups—including those whose interests are 180 opposite—have always done. Most of them have put some scalps on the wall.

Yep, GLAAD will have plenty more scalps. You can bank on that.

Submit and approve or beware. They'll work the politicians. They'll work the media. They'll work the corporate bigwigs. They'll work the hot-heads. They will not stop. And they'll have folks cheering them all along the way. No room for dissent in the public arena where they are concerned. No room for anything but approval.

And we all need to get use to it.

He didn't like the fact I brought up something this country desperately want, CHANGE for the better, a positive if you will. A real one, not that fake we have as a president.

Have any president in our history lied so much? I worshiped Clinton so it is not a Rep/Dem thing to me, I vote for either if they are right for the job and he wasn't. I heard things about him before he ran and it was true.

Mind you, I don't watch much TV, seriously.

Bronco and Packer football, Illini basketball, W WE wrestling on occasions, that is it. I read all other times or playing with the kids. I have no clue what shows are on or what they are about.

I find it hard to believe none of you have heard of the show. It's one of the most popular shows on TV and has been for awhile now. Have you guys been living under a rock???

Yes.

The wife owns the TV, I don't. I watch TV at 11 pm at night. I will catch an occasional 70's show like Buck Rogers/ Battlestar Galactica on Netflix or watch what I mentioned, but no, I do not watch TV at all.

I've heard of it, of course many on this board should know of the Duck Commander things thanks to the lovely buck commander lulz from years past. I just never ever have watched it. Never even remotely had the desire to. I rarely watch TV that isn't sports or good comedies. Lots of Netflix/Hulu.Only reality TV show I will gladly watch is Rock of Love. My gf is more into reality TV so she watches dumb **** like Real Housewives.
 
I have watched, and moderately enjoyed it. Very obviously pretty scripted but mildly entertaining anyway...

Pretty clean tv too, so it's ok for all ages. There are LOTS of worse shows out there.

The general consensus is that Phil is a great and kind person, and is that he is being ridiculed like he's one of the bad guys. This wasn't a witch hunt before this "rant" but it has become one now.

I've seen the show one time and I'll never watch it again. Everyone talks about it though, their memorabilia is everywhere. I mean you can't go into a store without seeing it. I just can't believe you guys have never heard of it, lol.

What do you need help here on Julio? I said I agreed with Paglia in that GLAAD uses fascist tactics. I've indicated what those sort of tactics are. Do I really need to say that, "but, that doesn't mean that I think they are an advocacy group that promotes a fascist state"?
