I think it's funny that "boomer" has become an insult by the group most like boomers. And they don't even realize it. Which makes it funnier. Uh oh. I'm getting myself into a funny loop....have to break out....

I'm a centrist in all this. My whole purpose above was to point out that the so-called "boomer" generation, of which I am not a member, did the same exact things that the current one is doing. And what did it get them? Apparently nothing, since 50 years later we are at it again. Both right and left have their nut jobs without doubt. But you can't two-wrong your way to a right no matter how much you want to justify it.
Detroit began its decline as a City after the riots in the 60's. Argument can be made that it was industry and jobs moving out: chicken or egg. Let's watch what happens to Portland, Seattle, NY etc in coming generations. Last I looked people were moving out of there in droves, taking the tax base with them.
Face it, if the far left didn't in fact act like idiots and criminals on their own then the far right would be right there to help them along in the court of public opinion. And vice versa.
Nothing is being accomplished except further division. Someone needs to step up and bring the Country together again. Say what you want about Reagan but at least he did that./

You are being too hard on the Boomers. Vets of WWI came back home and rejected the conventional wisdom. The Greatest Generation came back form WWII and rejected the conventional wisdom. The Boomers went to Vietnam and returned to reject the conventional wisdom. For years, X and Y changed the world without confronting the Boomers or directly attacking societal norms. Now you have disgruntled X and Y members joining Z's in rejecting the conventional wisdom/societal norms.
But your initial point is a good one. In fact, it is humorous to hear Z's make fun of Boomers. Right now the Boomers are all that stands between a second Trump term, which seems to be the absolute worst thing the Z's can imagine.
