If you legalize weed, it’s gonna kill your kids

Legalized marijuana = fewer civil asset forfeitures = less funding for police = higher crime = dead children

I mean it's pretty simple.

Basically the criminal justice system is a carnival of horrors.

Yeah. I was essentially pointing out the financial incentive to keeping marijuana laws. Many police departments have the funds the get from marijuana related offenses as lines in their budgets.

I don’t know any productive adults (real jobs) that smoke on a regular basis.

I've known a few rare people that seem to bounce back really quickly and remain productive. I think most people suffer a bit of a hangover. It ramps up your creativity hormones while high, but the next day feels like you have a deficiency. That's just been my experience.

Living abroad I'm not sure of this, but people tell me today's pot is much stronger than it used to be, which should also be something to think about. Adults can make that decision. Kids under 13 have no idea what they may be doing to their bodies.

There’s always those people that are productive partiers but they are few and far between

The increased chances of psychosis and mental illness are the most worrisome to me about the legality of weed and other drugs. A lot of people shouldn’t do drugs or even hardcore drink to begin with.

Should we ban fast food because some people can develop diabetes or heart disease? Should we ban cars because it increases chances of death? Should we ban social media because it rots people's brains?

I don't think anybody here said to ban weed. But young people with their brains and bodies still developing shouldn't be allowed alcohol or pot.

I love the term “real jobs” lol

It’s literally admitting multiple things but whatever

I know a lot of people with important jobs that smoke pot or do other drugs

I agree but incarcerating them isnt a solution to that. The effects of incarceration on a child or even anyone is far worse than what pot does. So it makes no sense to harm them by incarcerating them in the name of preventing harm from smoking pot. The question imo isn't is pot bad, the question is whether pot smoking or prohibition of marijuana is more harmful. Most times I see the effects of prohibition used as the reason it needs to be illegal. Because Paco shoots up a street corner of a rival pot dealer isnt the fault of the pot. It's the fault of the prohibition.

I won't go that far. Rival gangs shooting up a street corner should be dealt with like anyone else endangering public safety. You don't see Coke and Pepsi killing innocent bystanders.

Marijuana laws that targeted small amount users should've never been passed.
