Iglesias to DL, retroactive to 4/20

Motherfucker.

Weiss really said he, "slept on it funny." Lmao

Losing Iggy for more than a week or two will be tough, but this bullpen is built for it. I don't stress about the back-end at all, and I like Dodd a ton. That said, they need it to be minor because Kinley, Suarez and Lee will be heavily overworked soon enough if it's a long-term injury.

Lee, Suarez, Kinley is a fine backend. But we need to get more innings from the starters. If Jimenez eventually returns, a top 5 of Lee, Jimenez, Iggy, Suarez and Kinley is disgusting.

The good thing is there is plenty of quality relief depth in the minors and thanks to Profar, there's plenty of money to go out and trade for a really good one before or during the Trade Deadline. In all, I'm not worried. But it definitely sucks

Pete Fairbanks seems like a prime trade candidate for AA at the deadline, assuming the Marlins aren't competing at that time.

I think we got the depth to not miss a beat. Either Holmes to the pen or Fuentes. Give Ritchie a spot start if need be until Strider is ready. Imo gove both Fuentes and Ritchie a start. Holmes goes to the pen. When Strider is ready we use him as the 6th starter to give everyone but the ace an extra day of rest. Then whoever is worse between Ritchie and Fuentes can go back down.

I was actually thinking that it might make sense to have a minor leaguer make a spot start during the Nationals series. We can option Dodd on Thursday and call up Ritchie to start on full rest. After the game we could option Ritchie and recall Fuentes to pitch out of the pen. That would line up Sale Holmes and Elder for the Phillies series.

I believe Ritchie would have to be added to the 40 man roster in order to be called up. Not a huge problem, but it does factor into the decision.

Is there any reason to think this is gonna be longer than a normal IL stint?

Iggy pitched after he “slept on it wrong” and warmed up last night. I’m assuming the team is giving the extra rest and this allows them to call up an extra rested arm.

Maybe I’m wrong
My thoughts as well.

Then again, this is the Braves so whenever they say “no big deal” it’s a death sentence.
