Immaculate Team?

I mean you got way more Asian populations in Georgia than say- Nevada.

As for “how much”, Census data back to 1980 reveals the consistently high rates of growth in the Asian population, nationally, and at the state of Georgia level. In fact, from 1980 to 2000, Georgia’s Asian growth rate was 1st among all states, at over a 400% increase compared 125% for the nation as a whole. Georgia had nearly 145,000 more Asians in 2000 than in 1980. Over the last 20 years, growth rate of the Asian population in Georgia continued (at 175%) to exceed the national rate of increase (93%).

Just the numbers.

They must be duped as teenagers to come here or something.

Dodgers have been linked to Ohtani for years. Like Scheff said, they reset their payroll for a reason. Would be surprised if they didnt do everything in their power to land him. A top 4 of Betts-Freeman-Smith-Ohtani would be a pain in the ass to get through.

Lineup gets better but I think Ohtani is a bigger boon for their rotation which has been destroyed by injuries.

It's actually interesting that they tried to reset their payroll but weren't even able to get below the luxury tax threshold.

Having Ohtani would give the Braves the two most popular jerseys in MLB.

I think they’d be stupid not to make it happen, if he were to have any interest at all.

Ohtani wants money but he seems like he would wanna win more. I know it would never happen but if we did get him we’d be unstoppable. He would replace Fried and Ozuna both and outperform both. The added revenue would probably pay for himself.

Ohtani looks to stay in pretty good shape but when he goes down with an injury you lose 2 very valuable players in one. I’d rather spread the money out between 2 guys rather than pay him the 50 million per he’s gonna get.

I don’t know what the Braves appeal is outside of the US, but domestically Braves are on the short list with Yankees, Cubs, Dodgers, and Red Sox in terms of national attention.

I know what you’re saying but the inverse is also true. If he stays healthy, it’s like keeping two stars healthy (plus it opens up a roster spot which AA would put to excellent use).

OK, you're right, Atlanta is a perfect destination for Ohtani. He would be lucky to move there.

I can't wait for it to happen.

Enscheff attacking the South, which has by far the largest amount of African Americans in the country, is concerning behavior, and it’s typical of the lily white baseball nerds that have largely ignored urban America since the 1960s.

Yikes. You couldn’t pay me to live in Reno.

Aww, don't say that. The next time you're in town I'll take you on a hunting trip up in the mountains, unless you're now too "big city" for that. Or we could go to Tahoe and I'll buy you your favorite fruity mixed drink in a cute copper mug!

The difference is I understand it's hard to get talent to move to Northern Nevada because I have a hard time hiring smart kids from other areas of the country, and I don't get offended when people point it out. It's hard to convince people to move to a smallish city in the desert that's seen as a destination for hookers and gambling. I get it, and I don't bother trying to argue otherwise despite my opinion of the area. The South is widely seen as the last bastion of bigotry in all forms, and whether or not folks who live there have the awareness to admit it is besides the point.

There is one way, and one way only that the Braves sign Ohtani. It's unlikely to the point of nigh impossible, but it's the only conceivable way:

-MLB now allows teams to sell international broadcast rights. Those rights can include the right to superimpose advertising logos behind home plate, on the outfield walls, and even on the back of the mound.
-The Braves sell the rights to broadcast their games in Japan and around the world for $500 million on the condition they sign Ohtani.
-The Braves sign Ohtani to a $500 million contract, essentially getting him for free.

The flaw with this idea is that any other team can do the same thing.

Like I said above- he will sign with LaD (possibly NYY) but it won’t be because Atlanta is some sort of inbred hodge podge of KKK attacks.

With the amount of transplants Atl currently houses- my personal opinion is he’d be just as celebrated if not more as a Brave than an Angel. Here and abroad.

Umm what? That's an absurdly laughable statement. Not that bigotry doesn't exist in spades in the South, but acting like other regions of the country are somehow any less bigoted is an exceedingly ignorant statement.

The numbers of residents, corporations, etc. that are moving to southern states seems to indicate that any such perception is only in the minds of people who have spent little to no time there, or who base their opinions solely on flawed sources of information.

Southerners have a special talent for obliviousness.

As a proud member of the Dogpatch cotillion, I know in my heart I'm better people.

Someone just the other day was taking about awful it would be to go to Northwestern - you know because you'd stand a 50% chance of being murdered and I just nodded thibking how they are from one of the most worthless murder capitals in the country, but whatever. Talk radio on man.

(My ex-cousin was sort of famous and lived in Evanston so i know it's ridiculous)

Very important to note that your family was "chartah members" of various "very well regarded" institutions.

My mother would have enjoyed being Queen of England but might have questioned whether the Windsors measured up.

I'll give her credit though...I never have really been intimidated by that stuff though probably as a result so I guess it did it's work. Even if it was all a bit ridiculous.

Yeah, Enscheff has totally lost it.

The state of Nevada is 80% white, and that's where he chooses to live.

The South, for all its warts (Just like everywhere else), continues to attract record numbers of investment and people.

Enscheff is just a weird dude.

The USA is also vastly superior, economically, to every other major country on Earth.
