Yes. When someone is resettled as a refugee there is a small payment to the refugee agency that helps them get settled. And people with a green card have access to some government benefits. The unemployment rate for people with green cards is usually lower than for native born Americans. For the most part they aint accessing those benefits. They don't need them. They are too busy eating y'all's lunches (though not your cats and dogs).

Some Swedes are bigots and others not. Like any other nationality. If they want to use their money that way that's their bidness. I see it mainly as a performative thang to placate a noisy partner within their governing coalition. I used to have a very good friend from Sweden. He was half Swedish half Indian. Wonder what my old buddy is thinking these days.

eh...he lives in New Jersey and has for a very long time

but he did visit his family often

i see he still lives in Montclair, NJ at age 71

not too many people with a stereotypical Swedish first name and Indian last name...easy to find

i think he has paid enough taxes in this country to cover the benefits of quite a few poor immigrants

Well, Mr. DeWine you keep referring to the hellhole of Haiti but yet many of the people brought there have not been properly assimilated.

I guess like Sweden the people complaining are just bigots. lol
 
Assimilation is a complicated thang. There are lots of folks whose families have been here for generations who don't exactly fit in. There is plenty of room in this country for differences. We simply require people to follow the law, pay their taxes and if they choose to have a family raise law-abiding and productive children. Otherwise people can be as they wish. That's one of the great thangs about this country.
