Impeachment

I think the atty/client relationship with Giuliani is a dodge, as it certainly appears that they were working FOR him in Ukraine. Just a screen to try to protect their communications under a/c privilege.

I’m sure Brother Pavel knows these guys, right?

Pavel knows everyone in Ukraine.

As for Parnas and Fruman, they are pawns and we have a pretty good idea who they work for. They met last year with former US representative Pete Sessions to discuss getting rid of Ambassador Yovanovitch. She had been critical of Ukraine's anti-corruption efforts, which she believed were inadequate, and clashed with the country's top prosecutor at the time, Yuriy Lutsenko. Parnas said he told Sessions that Yovanovitch had been disloyal to Trump; soon after the meeting, Sessions contacted Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to recommend firing her.

Will be interesting to see if Pompeo blocks Yovanovitch from testifying tomorrow.

and here's an angle our friend cajun will enjoy reading about:

The indictment also alleges that Parnas and Fruman conspired with two other defendants, David Correia and Andrey Kukushkin, to funnel money from an unidentified "foreign national" to various unnamed politicians and candidates to get support for a new recreational marijuana business that the men planned to launch. Notwithstanding the donations they allegedly made, the business venture never happened, according to charging papers.

They also apparently tried to parlay their influence with the White House to get Ukraine to grant them a license to resell natural gas... Worth noting that this is a very common vehicle for corruption in Russia, used as a bribe/reward. Set up a holding company, by energy from the state utility at a discount, sell it for market value.

used to finance a Russia friendly political party in Italy

They found plenty. Without my help.

these two guys getting arrested today could be an investigation Mueller handed off, no?
Mueller found tons of ****. republicans just didn't care because it was a republican who crimed.

I'll say this about this whole Ukraine thing. It looks to me that Rudy was the prime mover (with input from Manafartov). But Chosen One didn't need much persuading and abused his office in an impeachable manner in chasing after Rudy's crackpot theories. Truly spectacular as scandals go.

Rudy=American Rasputin

As someone who has been a close observer of Rudy for many years (I worked in Manhattan when he was mayor) I am not surprised at what has happened. He has always been crazy. And has gotten crazier with age. He had his moment of greatness (9/11), something that can never be taken away from him. But he showed signs of being unbalanced from the start of his political career. Not as unbalanced as Chosen One. In the end, they reinforced each other's worst instincts.

What’s notable to me in the whole Giuliani/Trump/Manafort saga is 1) the sheer hubris involved and that 2) no matter what the ostensible end goal of any of this was, everyone involved seemed to be preoccupied by trying to stuff their pockets with money at the same time.

One interesting little detail. Email records indicate that Parnas started discussing a donation to the America First PAC the same day he had a meeting with Chosen One.

May 1: Parnas meets Chosen One and starts discussing donation to America First

May 15: $1.26 million is wired from the client trust of a lawyer specializing in real estate and foreign investments to an account controlled by Parnas

May 17: $325,000 donation is sent from the account controlled by Parnas to America First

you have Rudy who is Chosen One's private lawyer (but working pro bono) having a roster of clients from Ukraine (who definitely are paying him) while also conducting an off-the-books parallel foreign policy...even with sane people it is likely to be a problem...but with Rudy and Chosen One it is guaranteed to be a world-class scandal

That's kind of weird considering they gave money to Pete Sessions who has been a key figure in obstructing marijuana legalization.
