In a perfect world - pitching staff delusions

sorry I am not a fan of trading those 3 for Machado, if you want Machado go get him in the off season when you do not have to give those guys up, we can survive just for the rest of 2018. I would rather go after Kimbrel and Andrew Miller for the pen, they make a bigger impact for the $$

Paul George though.

If you told AA this team would be on a 94 win pace on July 2, that deal might have gotten done.

I wouldnt have dealt Acuna and spare parts.

Acuna has superstar potential. Yelich is really good but AA made the right play.

Paul George though.

I was thinking about that as well, actually. It seems a stratagem that’s been a lot more successful in the NBA than MLB—I’d guess because of the smaller rosters and larger impact of stylistc systems and individual personalities/egos.

We always want what we don't have.

The Cubs', Yankees', and Astros' young groups of position players are very impressive, sure. That said, there's not ONE MLB organization that wouldn't love to be in the Braves' position right now. No, Riley's not Bryant. No, Dansby's not Correa. Ozzie may not be Altuve and Acuna may not be Judge.

The thing is, with the absurd amount of pitching we've got they don't have to be. They're "good enough". Freeman's a superstar that may not even get enough love here. Ender's more than adequate for what's asked of him, and Pache and Waters are hot on his heels.

Truth be told, even though I'm as antsy as everyone else and want to make a play for someone to take a shot this year - I'll be more than happy enough to keep them all and see how things shake out. Go to a six-man rotation at every level to help keep them healthy, use a few of them as swingmen like Wisler and Sims have been when needed and simply out-depth everyone with arms.

I like to think Starlin Marte will be this off-season's Yelich.

He's someone I would gamble on for sure.

He will be under control for his 30-32 aged seasons if both options are picked up.

10 million in 2019 with with options for 12.5 and 13.5 million the next two seasons with 2 million buyouts for each.

He's averaged only 125 games per season for the last 5 years but put up 17.2 fWAR in those seasons. On pace for over 3 again this year too. He's not someone I would count on for a full season so we can't punt the bench spots but you should be able to pencil him for 3+ WAR
