Incase you went to sleep early last night...

Negabraves hate Swanson. I'm not sure how it evolved, but there is clearly a strong dislike for Dansby.

Not at all. Some of us disagree with how the front office managed his service clock. This has nothing to do with his performance this year or last year. However, given that his performance last year was used by some to "refute" the service clock argument, I do admit to some curiosity as to whether any of the same crowd will now "withdraw" their refutation based on this year's performance.

That last play with Adams tossing to Jace was fine. Just a fast runner beat the play out. Applause for the barehanded snag from Jace at first.

With the disclaimer that I'm not a negabrave (I'm more of an....agnostibrave? Skeptibrave?) I do have some issues with Swanson. Not with Dansby, per se, but generally having to do with him.

1) The FO brought him up last year in what appeared to be more of a PR move than a baseball decision.

2) I'm still a tad salty about the Andrelton trade.

3) Comparing him to a parade of HoF shortstops creates some seriously unrealistic expectations.

None of those things are Swanson's fault. He has a lot going for him. He seems like a good kid and I think he's going to be a good player. Every stud prospect we've had who has struggled (I think of Heyward, Marte, Francoeur) has taken heat roughly commensurate with the expectations placed upon them. Sometimes it's fair, and sometimes it's not. I think it's fair to say that he's been a huge disappointment so far, with the caveat that he has every opportunity to turn it around.

4) Giving him a bobblehead night. Muk had some good comments about how young players should be given a chance to find their footing before having a whole promotional campaign built around them.

Yeah, I thought Neck's observations were dead on.

I haven't seen a single person hate on Swanson. What I HAVE seen is many posters hate the way the FO handled him...every bit of ire being justified.

I have asked this before.. But wasn't RW brought in to help with the infield defense. At what point do we start blaming the coaching staff for shaky infield defense. I know these guys know how to catch and throw.. but is there routines or methods to keep these guys sharp. is there consequences to lazy plays.. is there film to breakdown a bad defensive play. So at what point should we hold people liable. Our infield D is atrocious and should not be tolerated.
